Does anyone make custom kydex holsters with a button retention system (similar to the Blackhawk Serpa)?

Alternately, does anyone already make one for the Walther PPQ?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Blackhawk makes SERPA's for a variety of handguns, though I don't know if they make them for the Walther PPQ.

On the other hand, most think the SERPA design is a bad one, and it is unlikely anybody would intentionally copy it.

Safariland makes a lot of retention holster models if it is a retention holster you are looking for.

Yes, but any shooter with retention that's trigger finger operated, gets wacked with a yard stick by a nun around here.

So this is banned as well:

I don't get why people like them. Ravens/KT/Bravo style holsters hold a pistol remarkably well, and conceal better.

I bought a couple from Safari Land with the button you push forward with your draw hand thumb. really well done and works great. I never liked paddle holsters, until I bought these. Very comfortable, stable and keeps the gun close to your body.

What you're looking for is an "active retention" holster. That means a mechanical device that must be manipulated to draw the handgun. What you want to avoid is the type that puts your finger in line with the trigger when you draw. That's the downfall of the SERPA system, the finger naturally falls into the trigger guard on the drawstroke. That's a Bad Thing.
