I work in the armed private security/protective service field and we used to order 50rd LE packs of gold dot, hornady, and federal from a shop that had an online store and he was decent priced at around $35-40-50rd of +p 9mm. I was always a little suspect on how he was able to sell them but any other shop I asked said their ammo supplier said they cant do it. His boxes were labeled Law enforcement and I'm pretty sure my partner had to send a copy of our state license but I'm not sure because his site says nothing about that.

does anyone have a legitiment supplier to get 50rd packs of defense ammo?

Whenever I find HST rounds they are in 50 round boxes. Golden Saber, Critical duty/defense, PDX1 and stuff like that are usually in 20 or 25.

GT Dist is the LE distributor for both Federal and Hornady for a good chunk of the SW. We use them at work, and we order between 50,000 and 250,000 per order, they are legit.

AIM Surplus has 50 round boxes of Federal's "basic" 115 jhp for 11 bucks right now.

Sgammo.com also carries the 50 round boxes for most carry ammo.

Ive ordered from them a number of times and have had no problems, reasonably fast shipping too.

Just re supplied some HST from them. Great people to deal with.

Another shout out for SGammo. I've been ordering from them for several years and never had an issue. Their ship times are very quick and are well packed. Typically shipped the next business day.

Ammo boxes labeled 'Law Enforcement' is nothing but marketing. It was the marketing buzz word before 'Tactical'. That and "Police". We sold all kinds of Winchester M70A Police rifles years ago. And Mossberg 8 round shotguns with a bayonet lug called Riot guns.
"...50rd packs of defense ammo..." Midway will sell you 500 rounds of 9mm 115 grain JHP's in 10 50 round boxes that comes in a very handy steel ammo can for $159.99 on sale. 250 rounds of the same stuff runs $99.99 on sale.
However, that's retail. Quit thinking retail purchasing for a business. Your company should be able to go directly to the local distributors and not bother with retail, on-line or otherwise. Figure out what brand you want to use and call the manufacturer. They'll tell you everything else.

SGAmmo are good people. Family run, good prices, never a problem. I've been buying from them for a long time. I think I found them late in the 2008 ammo shortage. Hard to believe its been that long.

we are required to buy our own ammo is the problem because its our own weapon and not everyone carrys the same caliber.

Targetsports and sgammo are both great and carry Fed and Golddot in 50 round boxes. May not say LE on the box, but it's the SAME load! Don't be fooled, it IS a marketing gimmick.

the reason I brought up the LE is I'm pretty sure the one place my co worker ordered from required a copy of our homeland security license and I figured it was the LE thing just like glock does for us. show the state license and get a % off.

Do some online shopping and I'll bet with frt you'll still beat your current supplier even with their discount. At least you will know one way or the other. The effort costs you nothing....

$35-$40 seems pretty high for 50 rounds. Does that include shipping?
If I remember right it was with shipping. Its been about 3-4yrs. Both of us got out of that line of work but I'm going to pickup a part time armed gig. still have my 124gr+p gold dots but I like to get new yearly and fire the remaining at state requal.

Check out the options listed and I know you can find good pricing. Availability is some times an issue, but there are great sources out there. Federal HST in several weights is $20/box of 50 plus frt (targetsports USA.com) which only adds a couple bucks/box depending on how much you order and where it's shipped to.

I have bought a fair share of ammo from sg ammo never an issue, and the LE ammo thing is just marketing nothing special about their ammo unless your in some state like California that has crazy restrictions on ammo, otherwise 50 round boxes of jhp are common
