I was getting light strikes in this pistol so after trying a few other things I decided to replace the hammer spring. Now I'm having trouble getting the hammer spring and strut assembly back into the pistol I was wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas to get the assembly in and everything lined up.

There may be several ways to skin this cat (pun intended!) however I would suggest you remove the hammer and sear then install the parts in the following sequence, i.e. rebuild it from the bottom up.

The problem is being able to push the hammer down far enough to get the pin in against the force of the hammer spring. Not really sure how I I can the the spring compressed a little to get everything to line up long enough for me to get a pin through the hammer.

Ok got everything squared away finally but boy is this new spring stiff. I see now why they went with a tip up barrel because this thing is almost impossible to rack now without first cocking the HEAVY hammer. Is that normal for these little bobcat pistoles?

Well she ran but the safety is out of commission and every now and then the barrel gets stuck now... I took it out and put about 200 rounds through it and here is my summary.

Before the new hammer spring.
Pretty decent trigger pull
Ran decently with any ammo
Easy to rack and cock hammer
about a 25 to 50% light strike ratio

After new spring.
Slightly heavy trigger pull
Runs about 85% with CCI mini mags but won't run anything else I've tried
Hard to rack
Only about a 5% light strike ratio

The pistol is a 1991 vintage that I gave $195 for.
Other than the hammer spring I also added a new firing pin, firing pin spring, trigger spring, new mec-gar mag (Mag definitely helped). Before the hammer spring I had added gold accents and did some polishing work along with extending/reshaping the feed ramp. Also have expensive grips on the way that I may or may not use.

Besides the light strikes I liked the way the pistol functioned with just the work I did before the new springs, although It has loosened up some and is a little easier to rack after putting a few rounds down range. Hopefully it continues to do so and I can get to a balance between the before and the after.
I like to tinker but I have put too much time and money into this little pistol so after I get the safety working again I'm just going to run it and hope for the best.

If nothing else this old girl don't look to bad.

Not meaning to veer off topic, can you measure the O.D. of your barrel between the front and rear lugs (where the slide is actuated) and let me know its dimension? Thanks in advance.
