I have a box of 265gr. FTX for lever action .444 Marlin. Can I use these in my Marlin 1894 .44 mag? They will be a little on the long side, will this create any issues?
Thanks

It is very unlikely that they will feed. I'm 444 they require shortened brass. Perhaps the same would be true in 44 Mag? But no sense not trying. Make up a dummy round and try it. It might work. And show us a picture! Will certainly be a unique round.

Another user on a thread recently mentioned using the 265 FTX in 44mags - but I believe he was shooting a break action single shot (TC?). I'll concur with the expectation you'd have to trim the cases VERY short to function with the longer ogive of the 265grn. For Marlins, a guy has to trim brass below typical "trim to" length when using the 225 FTX, which is considerably shorter than the 265 FTX meant for the 444.

I'd also question the designed expansion velocity for the 265grn vs. the horsepower available when shoved deeply into a super-short 44mag case.

And of course, a guy has to question whether the velocities attainable with the super-short 44mag cases will be sufficient to stabilize such a long bullet in the Marlin barrels. I haven't had issue myself with them, but I've heard a lot of guys complain about lack of stability in the 300grn XTP, which could be seated longer to allow greater powder volume than this 265 FTX, and the XTP is shorter to boot - so any rifle which has problems stabilizing the 300 I would expect to have worse problems with the 265 FTX.

If they'll feed, or the carrier could be modified to let them feed, and they match up to the chamber dims well enough for leade, it'd be interesting to see how they do. But considering these points above, I'd be questioning myself - is it really worth trying some odd-ball combination when there are lots of other proven options out there.

There's no reason not to. You do not need bullet specific data. You load by the bullet weight, not its maker or shape. Any FP will do for a lever action.
Hodgdon has 300 grain .44 Mag rifle data(up to 355 for hand gun loads. Cast, I think.) on their site. Just happens to be an XTP though. 1.600" OAL. Hornady factory loads it for hand guns too.
Hodgdon's 270 grain data will be close enough. 5 grains won't make much difference. Same OAL for a 240 as it is a 300.
There's buckets of 265 grain data on Handloads.com. There's a 265 grain FTX rifle load on Reloader's Nest that's the max load for a 270 on Hodgdon's site. Guy used a Rossi and says it wouldn't cycle with the tip on though. No OAL given either.

I'm not familiar with the bullet, but if they are long, could you try loading them in .44 spl brass?

I found a post on Marlinowners.com about using them in an marlin .44. Wouldnt feed loaded in mag cases, but they worked ok in single shot form. You might be able to get away with trimming the cases down, but the loss in capacity might be an issue as those bullets are already traveling alot slower than the .444 launches them.
