I recently decided to take up bow hunting..I never got into it before, but concidering the season starts earlier than gun buck season ,I have decided to give it a whirl..I was about ready to buy one of those Barnett Recruit package deals on Ebay in the neighborhood of $200,but ended up ordering a Bruin Ambush 345 package instead..I watched YouTube videos of each, and the Bruin seems like a lot more bow,and some of the comments said they were the same manufacturer as the Carbon Express, but The main factors in my decision is the Bruin seems a lot more silent, and it's a good little bit faster to boot, but now I'm second guessing my choice..I payed $209 and got free shipping for the package, about the same as the Barnett Recruit package..Have any of you ever had any dealings with this bow,and what are your opinions?..Thanks

I have zero experience with your particular xbow but I'll share what I know about bargain priced outfits. The main differences between low cost and middle priced units are with the trigger device and string release mechanism. They're plastic and subject to wear. But some hunters get many years of service from their xbows before requiring replacement of parts. These hunters fire a few shots before the season and a few more during their hunts. Then they hang 'em up until the following year. In other words, shooting less times equals longer life. Bargain priced xbows usually come with sights which are less than ideal but this is easily resolved with a better scope sight. For example, Simmons offers a good crossbow scope for a fair price.

As far as speed goes, any figure higher than 300 fps is fine for average hunting conditions. Once you go past 350 fps wear and tear on the bow becomes evident unless it's a high end xbow. In summary, good hunting success can be accomplished with a bargain priced xbow. They're typically quite accurate right out of the box.

Good hunting to you.

Hi Jack,

My name is Jamie Thomas and I am with Sportsman's Outfitters in Dothan, AL. You purchased that bow from us, on eBay. We have a relationship with Bruin as it's the owner's family that owns the Bruin name, which has been in the outdoor industry for many years. I assure you that you have received a very high quality crossbow! We were instrumental in the design and setup of these bows and worked with one of the World's most reliable crossbow manufacturers to delivery a High Quality bow at a very affordable price. I assure you there are no plastic triggers or flimsy parts, and the scope on your bow is a very good scope! If you have any questions about your bow, or need parts or service, please feel free to contact me direct at [email protected]

Thanks!

Jamie

I recently bought this bow from sportsmans and have shot it a dozen times, the bow is very solid ,the scope isn't bad, but the real surprise are the bolts, this bow shoots the bolts that came with it very well, I am the one who stated I believe it is made by the same manufacture as the Carbon Express "Piledriver". I am very pleased with this bow and for the money. With the proper maintenance there is no reason you can't get years of service from this bow..another note this bow is manufactured in Taiwan and not China and in my opinion that is another plus that goes in this bows favor. Now as for Sportsmans outfitters service is great ,quick out and quick to my door about 4 days to Ky. Thank You Sportsmans and thank you Bruin for a Very Nice Product....

I messed around with mine yesterday, and I'm really pleased..I bought a Bone Collector block that is supposed to be good enough for 400 fps,and at 20 yards I had to push my arrow out from the back..I set my target at 35 yards, and lined the upper crosshair to that distance. The instructions said set the upper ones at 20 yards, and use the lowerer ones at further distance, but I don't see myself shooting that close were I will be hunting with it..It seems to be consistantly accurate, and I like the trigger,it has some stroke, but is good and light..The only thing that I had an issue with was the auto safety(which is a good thing).I forgot to take it off safety a couple times..I was shooting good with it in no time, and if I see a deer I feel like shooting with it I'm confident it will get the job done..I have done a little more digging, and these bows are a PoeLang manufactured bow. They make bows for several brands, and even though they are Asian, they seem to be concidered pretty good quality, either way I will get good use from it..

Hey Y'all! This is my first time posting on this forum. I just had to join it when I saw the exchange regarding the Bruin 345. I ordered mine while Hurricane Irma was just getting here in North Florida - on eBay and from Sportsman's Outfitter. I am exceptionally pleased with the bow AND with the speed of delivery & speed of service at SO! I told Heath in customer service that I will be doing all my crossbow business with SO. It's that good! Now, for the bow, I have a trpod rest on which I'm resting when I shoot. Imagine my surprise when on my 7th shot I rear-ended one of my 3 arrows. I've switched to shooting at individual spots.. it's that accurate. Scope? It's as clear as my Hi Lux 6*24. The mildots are spot on. The accompanying bolts are 300+- the points 103+-. I'm happy to say that the new bolts I bought (300gr) shoot even better with 100 points.. I'm set to use my Muzzy 100 3 blade for him nting. Somehow at least 2 of the blades survive punching through the shoulder blade and dispatch the animal humanely & quickly. Any recommendations? Would it be better to use a 275 gr bolt with a 125 gr bhead? Florida deer aren't too big.

I'm glad to see this posting about the Bruin line of crossbows. I just purchased a Bruin Ambush 410. It should arrive by Thursday and I am eager to sight it in. I also bought mine from Sportsman Outfitters on eBay and appreciate their comments on this forum. I will update after a few shots and let you guys know how it does.

I found that the included bolts shoot really well with this bow, and I feel you would be perfectly fine with the 100gr broadhead. I bought Black Eagle Executioner bolts with Brass inserts for the front heavy effect and I am surprised to say the included bolts performed better with the 345, now thats no Knock on Black Eagle this bow just likes 100 grain tips on the included bolts. Hope this gives you some insight, just experiment and if you find a good combo please inform me Thanks, and good hunting..

Got my Bruin 410 just 3 business days after ordering, (kudos to Sportsman Outfitters for the quick shipping). First let me say this thing is a beast... a bruin for sure. My Black Hole 22 target will not stop any bolt this thing throws at it as it is primarily for compound bows. My Sniper bag target from Academy Sports stops them just fine. I sighted it in at 30 yards and when I moved back to 40 yards I used the second reticle. To my surprise the thing shot 6 inches high. On my next shot I used the first reticle and just aimed 2 inches higher and got bullseye. Only 2 inches drop in 10 yards! Awesome! Now let me be candid about my first impressions. I do not like the adjustable fore grip. It seems flimsy and my adjustment button has fallen off of it several times so I removed it and just use the slanted fore grip. I may use a spare AR style fore grip later. In my second day practicing there was several times when I pulled the rope cocker it would not catch. I think I may have had some debris in the trigger mechanism because I blew it out and after several more attempts it started working again. Today no more issues with the trigger just solid accurate shooting. As my first crossbow, I have no comparison experience by so far I am well pleased and feel I will have no problem getting a deer with this bow.

God bless and good hunting!

Just purchased a bruin ambush 370 from SO. This crossbow is accurate, light, hard hitting, and very reasonable price. The only thing I didn't like was the slanted forearm grip which digs into your back when carrying over your shoulder with a sling. Tried an ar15 folding forearm and that was uncomfortable too. Found the perfect solution by installing a Magpul XT picatinny textured rail cover on it. Nice an flat and still keeps your hands away from that flight rail.

The bruin is like the centerpoint ,killer instinct, pse and a few other bow companies out there. They dont make their own bows, rather they put their name and box on them.
They are made in Taiwan by Poe Lang,Hori-Zon and Man Kung.
What do they have in common outside of the low price...I'll tell you...they are excellent bows.
All great shooters, built solid and dead on accurate.
I've been xbow hunting for 25 yrs almost, and glad to see bows come along that are extremely well priced, and perform the same as bows costing 5x as much.
