i know we need a new lube thread like a hole in our heads but this is a specific question. And yes, I google searched it and the last thread was 6 years ago on the gunsmithing forum here.

Anyone use Corrosion-X as a gun lube in addition to corrosion protection? And is Corrosion-X for guns any different (thicker maybe?).

What was your experience?

I've also seen 2 peeps praise amsoil products and they now make a gun lube. Any experience?

I know there's dozens of ways to successfully clean and lube guns but just recently found out that C-X could be used as a lube and am curious.

Thanks in advance.

I've not tried it on guns, but I used a can of Corrosion-X can around the house and it didn't seem any better than Break-Free CLP and sure smelled a lot worse. Never bought any more of it.

I use CorrosionX for Guns. I have no idea if it's any different from CorrosionX for reels. I know they make a lighter oil for ball & roller bearings in reels. CorrosionX has kept my saltwater reels rust free for years, seems to stay where ya put it, doesn't seem to gum up. It's slippery, too. Personally, I would use the "reel" and "gun" oils interchangeably.

The Amsoil bore cleaner works well.....not crazy about the smell. Their gun oil works well also......Bottom line is that I can recommend it in good conscience but I still like CLP for general use and prefer Tri-Flow and Superlube for actions/ trigger mechanisms. As has been mentioned many times, firearms lubrication is a pretty low demand use. Almost anything oily will work adequately.

I have been using CorrosionX for about 15 years on my guns, really gets into the metal well and I have had no issues with rust on any of the guns I wipe down with it. Lubes decently, and has no sticky build-up that I have encountered. I have a hard time finding it locally, last time I bought quite a bit so I didn't have to ration it so much.

I use CorrosionX, I actually built hundreds of their handi-spray applicatiors.

I have a lot of different products they gave us and I have used them in many different applications. Any of them will work for general gun lubricant and all would be better than WD40.

That said I generally use a higher viscosity synthetic oil made by Elf on moving parts unless that's all I have with me.

I have and use the Standard CorrosionX on my guns, I have their Gun & Reel oils too and use them also only because I bought it. Now as far as the oils being different for the applications they are for, I see no difference in the oils, side by side comparisons, they all seem to be the same wt., color, smell, texture. I could be wrong but that's how I see it anyway. I think CorrosionX is an outstanding product nonetheless.

Oh yeah and it works great on the bright work i.e. Stainless Steel on my son's boat and on electrical connections too keeps the corrosion at bay.
