SO occasionally here abouts someone or another bemoans the lack of a mid sized .32ACP.....

Got me to wondering (this is what happens when I am not kept too busy to stroll by the old desk top now and then) if someone with too much time on there hands and too much money and too many machine tools might not put together a P32 "Sport" sort of like the Walther PP "Sport of old days.

The grip can be made longer by simply purchasing the 10 round magazine/ grip extension and using it.

A barrel twice as long as the issue one would be needed.....or perhaps something like an un rifled section like on the .22 rifle "Bloop tubes" (assuming ATF has not decided they are suppressors, intentions or not) to get the additional length. Threaded on the end for a larger front sight unit (got to un thread and remove same to get barrel from slide) and the unit indexed by a simple v cut. Slide modified at the rear to take a higher and more visable rear sight. Perhaps fixed with an excentric front sight like on an UZI or Karl Gustav M45 (it is a screw to provide elevation adjustments with the front sight off center so turning the screw moves the front sight left or right as well, should be good enough for Joe Home owner) Or just go with fixed but much more visible sights.

Might make a good night stand gun for P32 owners. Should take same laser /light packages available for normal P32.

Wonder what it would cost Kel-Tec to make such a thing at the factory compared to normal P32? Or maybe offer modified slide and barrel unit to existing P32 owners? Make the rear sight fully adjustable with a fixed front blade and call it a match model.

All of the .32 ACP purchases I wished I'd made...

Especially the Beretta Model 81

I never knew Bersa chambered the Thunder in .32 ACP - I was asleep at the wheel on that one or I would have purchased one.

I'm one who has a soft spot for the .32ACP, also. I have a P32 I carry sometimes, with the ten-round magazine in it. I also have a CZ70 but, admittedly, I haven't fired that one yet.

With production on the P32 slowed, I don't see much more in the way of accessories for it coming out of KT or any of its suppliers, though. I'd rather see them make something like the OP's vision in .22LR. In fact, it's remarkable that what I believe is the third-largest maker in the US does not make any firearm in .22LR.

Taurus had a fifteen-round .32 pistol a ways back, available out of county more than within the US, I expect. I remember thinking it would have made a nice shooter and possible member of the defense pool. If I came across a TCP 732 anytime soon, I'd probably pick it up.

Walther PP, too bad they aren't made anymore.

Roger that. My 1944 vintage 32 ACP PP is a great shooter.

Also the Colt 1903.

A long barrel, longer frame Kel-Tec P32 would be interesting. I'd probably get one.

They never did make that many. I saw one for sale at Bud's about five years ago and jumped on it. Nice gun.

I'm a bit of a .32 freak myself. I also have a CZ-83 in .32 , and I wish I could get magazines for it. I need 10-rounders because of my state's idiotic laws. It came with two of them -- lucky for me, because the standard mag for that pistol is 15. Unfortunately, I have never been able to find another 10-round mag. CZ-USA said, "Good luck," and CZ in the Czech Republic never answered my e-mail.

The problem one might face when doing such a modification is that the P32 is a locked breach tilting barrel design. And, by the nature of the design, it is somewhat sensitive to any weight attached to the barrel. Walther PP and that Bersa Thunder are both fixed barrel blow-backs - you can put a foot long barrel on it and the gun will function just fine. Not to mention that it will be a lot more easier to take a barrel blank with the desired length and attach it to a fixed barrel pistol, than to make a new barrel (or barrel extension) for the P32.

There was another .32 Beretta you might have liked: the Model 90 Roma. One of the sleekest looking and stylish .32 semi-autos I have ever owned. Molto bello!

My first center fire handgun experience was a Walther PP that belonged to a neighbor. As a preteen it seemed massive, but amazingly the PP used by the Polizi when I lived in Neu Ulm and the Walther factory I NEVER VISITED (stupid youth brain) was across the river had shrunk a good bit. One of our gun club members shot the darn things at 100 meters one night to settle an argument with another member about the possibility of doing so. No shot hit the 50 meter ISU slow fire black, but all five he fired did hit the paper. Among the comments afterward where that a criminal at that range could catch the bullets and save them for reloading and later use. Strangely none of the laughers wanted to go down range and try to play catch.

I do have a soft spot for the FN1922 but yes a Colt 1903 would be nice. One keeps floating around from shop to shop locally but it appears to have been Rebel plating's test piece for the original Armaloy finish back around 1970-ish and is ooogly and way over priced. No idea how it shoots, but have seen it in various gun and or pawn shops with in a 60 mile radius for literally 20 years.

Yeah I was aware of the tilting lock barrel on the P32 I figured we could play with slide weight on the "new" slide and maybe the recoil spring. A buddy that makes suppressors had the devil of the time getting them to function with anything approaching reliability on 9x19mm and .45ACP service sized pistols a few decades back. Makes me wonder if some of the guns made for various military test that required functioning with a suppressor are beating themselves to death with every non suppressed shot.

It's not related to the P32, but the best 32acp I could find for range work and plinking was the Beretta Model 100. It has adjustable sights and a 6" barrel. Yes, it's quite accurate. There are still some out there if you keep your eyes open.

Well kBob, the P-32 sport is an interesting idea.
The 10 rd magazine worked fine for me but over in the KT forum I've heard about reliability issues with them, so it must vary a bit.
Have always liked the P-32

Just over at the Southern Ohio Guns site and they have Hungarian AP63 .32 ACP guns available. This is one of the many PP based not quite clones of Europe.

Tallball,

That is no nice looking Beretta. I seem to recall that one of the Bond films pre release ad/art posters for the movie houses featured one of those and no I mean besides the one with the air pistol in it.

Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you kBob. My Colt 1903 is my second favorite (too bad the sights are so tiny). 32acp can be a very accurate cartridge. It's a shame almost all of them are pocket pistols.
