I know these are new, as in just released to retailers within the last week or so, but who has one? I've reached out to a couple of my local shops and no one has one in stock yet. These have piqued my interest, but I'd like to hear from some folks who have had trigger time with them before taking the plunge.

I was in the Roanoke Sportsmans Warehouse and they implied they'd be getting one "soon". We all know that can mean anything as they didn't know when soon was.

I looked for one today in a couple of shops and had no luck.

I have been waiting for the 2.0 compact all year and the fact it is g19 size may make it even better.

My local dealer has two of them. They call me whenever something new comes in. Another G19 wanna be. Nice gun, don't care for the trigger. S&W is the premier revolver company. Their new Poly guns are nothing more than, me too! Just my two cents...

I'm interested in the M2.0 Compact because Glock 19's are fine pistols, they just don't feel especially great to my hand. Trigger reach is too long and the gun just feels bulky. And yes, I do own a Glock 19, however it's primarily my loaner gun for friends when they want to go shooting with me and don't have a gun of their own. I'd really like to get something that I could put to some actual use.

Glock Killers! What is that? It sure isn't a S&W M&P! Ever wonder why M&P's are non-existent in the Military and Police world?

Ok...so that's not true at all, in the law enforcement world. A decent number of law enforcement agencies issue M&P pistols. Glocks hold the lion's share, but let's not say something completely untrue just to prop up Glock's reputation.

I have yet to see one M&P in a cop's holster. S&W's best years were back when the built steel autoloaders. Those were used by may PD's. I own a full-size M&P 2.0 along with a new Gen-5 G19 and a pair of Sig P320's. The 2.0 is a nice gun, still a sub-par trigger. No comparison between Glock and Sig. I also own a S&W 3913 Compact which I bought back in the early 90's. Better than any of the new Smiths. Just my two cents...

Oh, that's certainly valid, but only goes to show the danger of relying on our own tiny personal perspective, rather than trying to educate ourselves about the bigger world.

S&W's best years were back when the built steel autoloaders.
An interesting personal value judgment. Some people do agree with you.

I've spent enough money researching the bigger world. My business partner was a licensed FFL and I had the pleasure of purchasing anything at dealer cost. Allot of fun back then. I'm also a veteran, US Army and participated in Operation Desert Storm. I could say I've had my fill of weapons of all sorts. Many of us were still carrying 1911's! LOL

Enough to form an opinion, surely. And yet, you didn't do the moment's work necessary to discover that the M&P line of polymer autos has been adopted by many law enforcement agencies here and abroad. That was my point.

If you don't like something, that's fine. But don't use that as a foundation for a statement like, "Ever wonder why {this thing that isn't true}?"

I've seen quite a few M&Ps in cop holsters. Talked to a local cop just the other day about his M&P actually. Probably 3 Glocks to 1 smith but they are out there. My M&P has been more reliable over 11,000 rounds than my Glocks FWIW. And vastly more ergonomic.

OK, but I've lived in PA and VA, both huge states and I've never seen any PD with M&P's. Maybe smaller rural departments with limited budgets. Just saying! Rest assured there are no US Military or Federal law enforcement agencies that have adopted them.

I've seen plenty of M&Ps in police holsters. Some officers and deputies I've talked to about it prefer the more ergonomic grip. I also prefer the Glock trigger, but I do like the M&P grip feel better. Tradeoffs.

The grip angle on the M&P is better than the Glock, that's a given. I also wish Glock would eliminate the humpback. I installed the medium size Beavertail on my new G19, big improvement IMO. The gun feels much better and easier to shoot, at least for me.

In 2009 Reuters reported that the DEA was using them.

And another quick Google search turned up multiple departments in both PA and VA using the M&P. What you haven't seen only proves what you haven't seen.

I own a full-size M&P 2.0 along with a new Gen-5 G19 and a pair of Sig P320's. The 2.0 is a nice gun, still a sub-par trigger. No comparison between Glock and Sig. In my neck of the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast, M&P's and Sig P229's populate more LE holsters than do Glocks. In fact the only LE agency in my state that issues Glocks is the Capitol Police department which is responsible only for the State office buildings and county courthouses in each of the three counties. Our State Police carry Sig P229 DAK's chambered in .357 SIG, my County Police department officers carry M&P .40's, our state Department of Corrections transport officers and lobby security officers carry Sig P229 DAK's in .357 SIG, our state Probation and Parole officers carry M&P's in .40, the City Police department where I work carries the M&P in .40, the University police for my state's biggest university carries M&P .40's, and the city police where I live carry P229 DA/SA in .40. Moving down toward the state's beaches, M&P's are the issued sidearm of choice. So, saying that M&P's are prevalent, let alone present in the LE community is a gross misstatement of fact. I get that you're a Glock guy, but Glock's aren't the be all end all of polymer framed auto-loading pistols.

Ok Sam has already done a pretty good job of bashing the basher but I'll add my 2 cents and point out that when CSPD traded in their 5906s they replaced them with M&PFS9s

I wanted to check this before I said it but the Colorado State Patrol transistioned from 4006s to M&P40s at roughly the same time.

If the M&P compact had been out when I was looking at the Glock 19 I might have considered it, more so because I have an M&PFS9 and commonality is a huge factor in my handgun purchases.

As much as I want to I just don't like the looks of the 2.0 and I don't like that aggressive grip texture. Also I can get Glock19 magazines for around 10$ less than S&W magazines even at non sale prices

My LGS has it in. I was able to handle and dry fire it yesterday. Seems like a very nice pistol but for me personally the reach to the trigger is too short especially with the trigger breaking way back though I did not try it with the large back strap. I have the same issue with the CZ P-10C and when firing it I was pulling shots to the left and was trying to adjust my grip between shots. The trigger reach on my Gen 2 Glock 19 is just a tad to short for me but with the Grip Force adapter it works well for me with my trigger finger just to the right of the first joint. I wear XL gloves and have large backstraps on every of my pistols that has one. The trigger pull on the new one I tried was OK but not IMO near as nice as my PPQ or VP9. I consider the trigger on my box stock Gen 2 to be pretty decent.

Still for around $365 after rebate ($75 for us in some states including mine) it is hard not to consider the new M&P 2.0 Compact but so far I have not ordered one. I am very content with my old and reliable Gen 2 Glock 19 as my double stack CCW. If wife was interested in shooting I would probably buy the M&P 2.0 Compact because it seems to fit smaller hands well. Online reviews have been very positive about it including those where shooting it was done..

Those looking for a true Glock 19 sized pistol should definitely check it out.
