image.jpeg image.jpeg i haven't shot the belly gun in a while. I picked up some new 130 Gr ammo and wanted to try it. It's snappier than the 150 Gr RNL federal I had with me.
The circle holes are the Winchester, the crossed holes are the RNL, and the unmarked are the second round of Winchester. I had a low one I circled in the 3 rd five shots, I don't know I think I pulled it!
It's at 25' to the target holding two handed. The closest to the center is the RNL.

Those Airweight Smiths are sure tough to shoot at the range with snappy ammo! Even with a good trigger stage I seem to flinch in anticipation a bit more with my 642 more than with larger, more powerful rounds in all-steel guns.

The Winchester Defend ammo is a regular power .38 load (non +P) that gets to about 240 ft lbs. Not a real thumper on either end, but recoil is magnified on your hand by the lightweight gun.

These are not target weapons so don't expect target accuracy. One of these days I am going to post a 50 yard PPC target that scored a perfect 120 with twelve rounds. I was told it was 12 shots in one minute, six fired right and six fired left hand with a reload, with a revolver. There are some amazing shooters who have shot hundred's of thousands of rounds to get to where they are. I do think these snub nose revolvers are capable of target accuracy, but the limited sight radius and the tiny grips would limit that capability to a Ransom rest.

Just keep on shooting it and work on consistency double action. Accurately shooting a revolver double action is very hard. Maybe one of the hardest marksmanship accomplishments around.

I have been able to keep a tight group with my 442 when I had it, out to 15 yards.

I have a very good group out to 18 yards with my Kimber K6S. I haven't tried further yet, but I can shoot steel plates out to 25 and 50 yards with it.

These snubbies are more accurate that you realize. My friend out everything in the IDPA A zone out to 50 yards with his 640, free handed.

Those new 642's are tough to shoot especially with their horrendous triggers. I have had good accuracy from an older 640, but it took a lot of practice.

shot my 642 yesterday at 8 yards. kept everything in the 7 to 10 ring of a 25 yard timed fire target. Most were in the 8 to 10 ring. Yes the trigger is heavy, but manageable. Man that gun got dirty. Fired wadcutters for target, wadcutters for defense, Winchester Defense ammo (i liked that one) and some Gold Dot 135 gr +P. Here it is all cleaned up.
