How are the competition opportunities I the Ft. Benning area?

Action shooting. My current love is rimfire steel, but I also play USPSA. I know the AMU is there, but I'm not sure what the scene is like for civvies

The matches at Strongpoint/Waverly Hall are probably the closest ones to you and are supposed to be pretty good (the state director, Randy Arrowwood, frequently attends those). East Alabama should also be close. So that gets you 2 outdoor matches per month plus a steel challenge within an hour's drive. If you're willing to put in 2-3 hours behind the wheel, you can get to South River (Atlanta Practical) in Covington for another monthly outdoor match (they also do a 3 gun match there on a different weekend); you could also get up to Talladega at the CMP facility for yet another monthly. A >2 hour drive also gets you to a Tuesday night indoor match in Fayetteville.
