Finished this up this afternoon. I don't forge many blades; usually I am a stock-removal guy. I even went old-school sharpening it, using stones instead of the belt-grinder.

9" blade, Curly Maple handle, steel and bronze fittings. I'll make the sheath tomorrow.

Tinker

Litlman beat me to it...Awesome!

You could slip that into some historical museum display case and no one there would be the wiser. Like stepping back in time.

Professional makers like Tinker don't scrap yard their projects since they need reliable material when making a knife to sell to a client. It often turns out cheaper over the long haul to actually buy steel from Aldo or one of the other cutlery steel dealers since you have no confusion about the material and how to heat treat it...and it comes in the size and thickness you need starting out.

I love handmade knives and yours is a very nice example. After sharpening this knife on stones will you be going back to the belt sander to save time?

Most of the time I sharpen on the belt sander, but on this one I was going Old-School.
