So this is probably and odd request considering there are a couple suppliers of replacement stocks for these rifles.
BUT, im specifically looking for a old Fajen monte carlo stock. I have two on my other Arisaka sporters. and while playing with my 6-284 last night, I realized im very fond of the basic shape, and with a pad added, length and feel of these stocks.
Of course I cant find one in any of the normal places (ebay etc), so if anyone knows of a site, or shop, who might have one squirreled away...or even an idea of people to check with, Id appreciate any help.
Ive gone as far as considering buying a complete rifle just to steal the stock from it lol. Down side to that is paying for the shipping to get it to hawaii, and then Ill have another gun sitting here needing a stock....a cycle im trying to get out of.....

Bob's Gun Parts in Royal Arkansas has updated his old website. He is now including used stocks as well on his website.
Pictures of the arisaka new stocks he has

Numrich also lists sporter stocks with no pictures for the T99-- as STOCK, 7.7MM, SPORTERIZED, USED FACTORY - CONDITION MAY VARY--might be worth a call Product #: 1644510

Sarco also bought a bunch of sporter stocks for various models--call them up as they do have weird one off items that never make it to the webpage and that could be one of them.

Popperts is somewhere I use when I can't find it elsewhere--you will have to call them though they are listing an Arisaka stock for the T99 but have no online inventory search http://www.poppertsgunparts.com/index.htm

Last but not least, these folks left Fajen to found their own stock making company http://www.wenig.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/donniegemes/ (Show-Me gunstocks). Bet that they would be familiar with the particular stock that you are looking for.

I spend some time on the interwebs in between doing something I should be doing. I'll check other usual suspects.

Nope, im probably gonna go back to my original option and order a boyds.
Called around and found some more info, and a couple folks were willing to make me one, but cost is too high considering the alternatives.

Ill probably order the boyds later today, and right after i do a dozen will come up on auction lol.

Oh hey speaking of arisaka parts ive got some sights, no wings, and other arisaka stuff if you want them. Got an unmolested trigger guard that ill need to cut and grind to fit the sporter stock if you want that also, ill go find one all ready hacked on.

No, I'm good-not currently rebuilding any Arisakas although I do have to fix the safety knob on a T38 carbine--it is worn enough to pushoff--I may substitute a T99 knob and already have an aftermarket firing pin as a fix. I have a few Arisaka parts left over myself from some rebuilds so let me know if you need some small parts. I also may have a sporterized military T99 stock but not really sure. I really appreciate the offer though. Trying your brake fluid tip on the Mauser 71/84 rear action screw by submerging the rear of the action in the stuff. Have to remove the action screws so that it can be fitted into a stock that I acquired. Heat and cold, and dousing in penetrating oils have not budged either action screw so I am getting a bit more aggressive.

You are right about a bunch appearing after you buy something.

If i remember correctly you can substitute t99 and t38 pin/safeties as complete units yes? If so and you want ill swap you for the pin and safety on my 6.5-284, as its getting a timney trigger and side saftey. I was planning on seeing if i could streamline the saftey/shroud a bit on that one anyway.

One thing that just came to mind, is if that screw isnt numbered with the gun, you may wanna just grab it near the threads with a vice grip (GASP) and wiggle it. Ive had that work when ive got a corrosion lock on stuff. Also slightly flexing the botom metal and action together can loosen the lock on the head of the screw.

I've seen repro Arisaka safeties for sale on ebay. I've bought other stuff from the seller that was top drawer. Now to remember who it was.....

Yeah ive seen those as well, they disappeared when i was looking for one for what became my 6-284 so I havent tried them, but ive only heard good things about them.

Yeah, the problem is that the front action screw is almost fully enclosed by a trigger guard flange that goes into the stock at the bottom and the receiver recoil lug at the top. A slot just wide enough for a hacksaw blade is all that separates the two. The back receiver action screw is covered by a bushing that I may have to cut off. It was rusted welded solid as well on the screw and the bushing finally broke free yesterday where I can rotate it just as you mentioned above using padded vise grip pliers.

The schematics for the 71/84 do not show such a action screw bushing at the stock tang so I was reluctant to cut what I thought was a bushing which could have been a badly corroded action screw. Now that I know it is a bushing covering the screw, I can get a bit more aggressive and cut it off now that it has broken free. Bushings are pretty easy to replace--the action screws for this rifle, not so much.

Re the Arisaka, I'll try to find out Monday or Tuesday of next week on the Arisaka T38-fp/safety. If I recall, the T38 FP was okay but the knob's safety lugs were worn which allowed the firing pin to go forward when you pulled the trigger on safe. Could have had a welder build it up but then heat treatment etc. Don't remember whether it is a late T38 or early knob if that makes a difference. I have an aftermarket T99 firing pin which had to be fitted which I did but then I replaced it with a genuine article a bit later but don't have the T99 safety to go with it.

If it was the same guy, it is a guy in Oregon as I bought a replacement firing pin from him years ago. http://shopping.mastergunparts.com/cubecart/firing-pins/japanese-arisaka-type-99-firing-pin.html

He is currently out of stock on the T99 safety knob--argh but has some other interesting stuff to sell including a staking tool for the AR bolt. Hmm.
