Just checking in. Went squirrel hunting Monday morning. The weather was perfect....50 degrees at the start and warmed to 70...calm and sunny. Squirrels were everywhere. The limit is 5 here in Kansas: my buddy and I killed 10. We could have easily killed twice that number. Shot with .22 and 17Mach2. Saw about a dozen deer and the skies were filled with geese, hawks, and numerous other birds. I've hunted lots of different critters over the decades, but squirrel hunting is still my favorite. Great eating too. Whatta day! How's your hunting going?

No squirrel hunting yet but did do some deer bow hunting. Passed on some small doe but nothing else to report. Its been really hot in Ohio so haven't done much but will get at it soon.

I have only been out on the last two Sunday afternoons with my recurve. I saw a really nice buck just off my property at dusk. That was exciting. A few does from the stand. Two bald eagles in my field.
I'm beginning to see the end of Harvest. That means more time in the stand. We rented 600 more acres for 18. I'm excited about exploring the hunting possibilities.

Been out everyday this week. The last three have been gorgeous. Deer everywhere. Bucks starting to get rutty, making scrapes and I found a couple of rubs as big as my forearm. Squirrels all over me and I didn't have a 22 that I liked so I ordered an new CZ 455 and stuck a 2X7 Vortex RF scope on it. When muzzle loader season is over I have got to thin some bushytails. Heard the first geese of the year last Saturday. Love it!

Forgot to mention in my OP that although my squirrel hunt was top notch, my deer hunt a few days ago was a real bust. We have a 3 day antlerless season here in Kansas in early October. First day it rained hard and soaked us. 2nd day was hot and muggy. 3rd day was cold and very windy. Weird weather, few deer, and nary a shot. Last year we bagged 2 fat does on the first day. Can't win 'em all I guess.

Rifle season opened for white tails last Saturday here in eastern NC. I killed a 14 inch wide 8 point Sunday evening around 6:40. Not exactly good deer hunting weather. It had to be 80 when I killed him. We get rifle season through January 2. Should be a good year. Good luck and be safe out there.

I went out for a couple mornings during that above mentioned 3 day doe season but also didn't see anything. Sat in the brush blind for a couple hours and then tried a wooded area across the fence. Too warm, thick and leafy when I tried looking around through there. Cool front on the way so maybe I'll get out and bow hunt sometime..?

Just in from opening archery day in Fl panhandle. Still too hot, and we're a long way from the rut (what "rut" there is in Fl anyway), so no luck- all the deer are still nocturnal- but I had to try!

I saw two doe when checking on my deer stand for this season, it is geezier season this week for doe and the last three days of inline season us geeziers(over 65) can use modern rifles if we want to. I didn,t shoot at the two does and only wanted to move some small logs and brush from my fall buck season stand. it was a nice day in the woods. eastbank.

Went out with the muzzleloader this morning and gave up when the sweat started getting in my eyes. Ran by one of my feeders and pulled a card from a camera. Bucks all over it. Had 3 new ones. That makes a nubbin, (2)spikes, a 3 pt, (4) 8's and a 9 plus a doe or two. Here is some pictures of the big new comer. IMG_0206 (800x527).jpg IMG_0208 (800x597).jpg

So far got a doe during the five day hunt myself. Daughter got a nubbin the same evening.(awesome!) Camera is showing many deer and all hours of feeding schedule. Haven't seen but one legal buck so far, young 7 or 8 point. Finally cooling off and getting some rain down here. Squirrels everywhere, bunch of crows, Hawks, owls. Saw the first good buck I've seen this year coming home from work about 5am Saturday morning. He's only about a half mile from my house.
