Need Help Deciding On 5 New Guns

I would encourage you to savor your good fortune and buy them slowly. As happens with all of us, our needs and desires change over time. I could easily make a long list of guns I want. But, next month that list would change and the priorities will shift. So, slow down.....don't be in a hurry to fill your cabinet. Half the fun of acquiring new guns is the search.

I would be looking hard at a Rex Zero right now. By all accounts I have seen, this newcomer is quite impressive.

  • Garand with matching serial numbers

It is not my intention to hijack this thread.

However, on EVERY M1 rifle, there is one serial number and ONLY one. It is the one on the receiver. All other numbers are basically part numbers on the master blueprint.

Another way of explaining this is, for example, the part number of an M1 bolt is D28287. ALL M1 rifle bolts carry part number D28287, until October 1945 when it changed to 6528287. They will not be serial numbered to the rifle if they came from a U.S. contractor. Every other part has its own number on the blueprint.

BTW the letter in front of the number is the paper size required to draw the part at actual size.

I honestly hope your knee heals or already has and doesnt give you fits later. I wish you the best in regards to your present and future mobility. That said...
I would definitely buy at least 2 tax stamps. Then id get myself a Barrett 50 cal. Ive been wanting one for a long time. Also as I dont have a press and tooling for loading 50 cal id get set up to feed it.
In the meantime id be shopping for the supressor one of the stamps would cover. As to the other stamp it would be intended for the Uzi ive always wanted. I probably would shop around for it.
At least while waiting id be shooting the 50 cal. Im positive id buy a plethra of 9mm ,so the thing would have plenty to feed on. Id bet a fellow might need at least a newer ATV plus a new diesel dodge to haul it as ive never been able to afford one or finance a hunt for elk or Big Horn sheep. I know you must have someone willing to help you carry the ammo for the 50. I hope you find what you want.
Thanks for the post as if a person never dreams they never have a dream become a reality. Best wishes

"...collect ability..." That is one word. Modern commercial stuff is not collector grade and rarely, if ever, becomes collector grade. However, if you haven't developed an "I need one." wish list(no 'purpose', practical or otherwise is required for a wish list. It's like a bucket list only more fun.), it's time you did before spending any money. Last I saw, the pair of consecutively numbered. 5.7", SS, ivory gripped, Vaqueros were $2500Cdn.
"...A Stuart will fit in most two car garages..." Not through a regular garage door it won't. 7.5 feet high. snicker.

I would just put the money in the bank until I found something I wanted.

That is a big 10-4......If you don't have a few months salary saved up for an emergency and a fully funded retirement account I'd hold on to that cash with both hands. Sure you can treat yourself but I'd definitely sleep on each and every purchase as to not regret spending the money later on.......I know this sounds like financial preaching but you will be much happier in the long run if you think things out carefully......I know these things from personal experience!

Your list looks good! I share a wish for a scout rifle. Would also like a high end 1911 (Ed Brown, Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Baer). A vintage Browning Hi-Power. S&W Model 69. The cherry on top for me would be a Colt Python or Diamondback.

Not sure how much money you have to spend. IMHO. I wouldn't worry about practicality just get what you desire

Mine.

1). 1873 Winchester 44-40. Just because they look neat and I love the movie "Winchester 73" with Jimmy Stewart

2). Navy Lee 6mm. First small bore service rifle adopted by the US

3) P-08 Artillery Luger.

4) Original Colt 1911. WW1 vintage

5) M1D with scope

None of your initial list flips my switch, so I really don’t expect my choice to interest you...

Instead of 5 guns, get one custom made for you; a bespoke, fitted to you, best quality English double barreled shotgun. A Purdey, Holland and Holland... go for quality and class, since you can afford it. And then go shoot the hell out of it!

Thanks for all the good whishes. Hopefully it wont. I jacked it up bad playing football back in high school, thats what led to the initial replacement. The re-replacement is scheduled November 23rd, happy early christmas lol. +1 on the extra stamps, ive already got cans in 9, 45, 5.56 and 308. But i do like the idea of getting a "big bore" can for use on my Armalite ar-30 338 Lapua. And, while i like the idea of something like a Holland and Holland, thats always been more my dads realm than mine. Oh, and + 1 and the aerial hog hunt lol.

Great that you are all set. One idea....since the shooting sports are very much your hobby....and you seem to have done quite a bit....have you thought about making your next purchase one that could propel you into a higher level of one part of this avocation?

Examples:

High precision Bulls Eye shooting, and competition. This could be .22lr, high caliber rifle or pistol. So, selecting one would dictate what firearm you would chose. With the funds you have available, you could jump into the middle of a very competitive circuit.

Trap, skeet, 5 stand, clay games. Selecting one would dictate specifically what type of shotgun to get. Perazzi?

Glock steel shooting (GSSF).....G34

Steel shooting or similar......maybe a specialized STI.

Collecting somewhat rare or well respected arms: SIG P210, HK P7, HK USP match or similar (I agree...just to have one), Ruger Vaquero (?), maybe an authentic, period Winchester.

Maybe a high end, custom built 1911 from one of the top places. Maybe one of the top of the line SIG 226's or an X5 and again ...the 210.

At any rate...just a different way of looking at it. Instead of thinking about the guns themselves.....think about what you want to do in the shooting sports or firearms world and go about it that way.

Just $0.02

Best

An AX50 or 338 would be slick..get some NF/SB/etc glass, a Terrapin, a slick carbon fiber tripod, HOGsaddle, and a LabRadar to try out with it all

I could go for a nice competition SAO 9mm, maybe a CZ custom or something as well.

Guys, the OP said he's put thousands of rounds through a SCAR 17 without owning one, sounds like he's probably had a lot of training already (that we probably all helped pay for...lol).

1. Big Horn Armory Model 90

2. S&W X-Frame in .460

3. CZ SCorp ion SBR'd.

4. Extra mags for the Scorpion and any other firearms that I need spares for.

5. Ammo and or reloading supplies for .460S&W.

1 - I would have my Winchester Model 71 given the full treatment by Turnbull.
2 - A Colt Diamondback 22.
3 - A presentation grade Pre 64 Model 70 in 270 Winchester.
4 - A Winchester Model 21 Grand American 20 gauge.
5 - A Browning B78 in 257 Roberts

I have also received on a settlement. I picked up.

1. M1 Garand
2. M1 Garand
3. 1903 Springfield
4. 1917 Eddystone

They are not collectors but are shooters.

I'd look at:

A milled receiver Arsenal AK SBR
(The quality on my Arsenal milled receiver is amazing)
(And/or) A Robinson XCR-L in 7.62x39 SBR (I have one with a 10-inch barrel and it's awesome!). Also available in 7.62x51 in the XCR-M, analogous to the SCAR-17...

A Sig P220 in 10mm

A Sig MPX or a CZ Scorpion
