I don't know what it is with me and old revolvers lately.

I bought a 4" 686 when they first came out. First time at the range, first 5 shots were a clover leaf at 50'. Loved that gun. Change in administration and we could no longer carry .357's with .38's in them. .38 revolvers only, so I foolishly sold it. Aaarg......

I'm with you. Love old smith's, Ruger's and colts. Preferably pre-cnc.

I don't know exactly when S&W began using CNC, but the frames of those Smiths of mine from 1975 were clearly cut with CNC equipment in 1975. I can tell by the milling marks inside the frames. And they are just as nice and sweet as anything from the 'pre-CNC' era.

I was mainly referring to the internal parts being handfitted. Personal preferences is all.

Since you're in my area and looking for a model 10, check out Prescott Valley Pawn. They had a 10, I think no dash, in there a couple of weeks ago in pretty good condition.
Thanks for the tip, neighbor! I owe you a cup of coffee or something, I reckon. Stopped in today and got it. It's got a holster-wear rash on the cylinder and top strap, but hey-- it's a 10-no-dash, so it's okay by me. Grips are original and numbered to the gun. I'm grateful for the pointer! If you want to shoot it sometime, just let me know. Here it is:

The grips will get some soap and water as soon as I get back from trying it out.

Beautifulla, beautifulla....

Love pictures of old guns!

S&W made detective specials? I thought those were made by Colt? :uhoh:
Yikes! Should have said Chiefs Special. Was thinking of my Colt EDC. Don't know what's with the double post:confused:

didn't look like it worked, so I hit it again - then couldn't delete it when I went back......
Was referring to my double post.:) Same thing happened to me. Wouldn't accept the picture of my Colt and then it wouldn't post at all w/o the picture. Looked 10 minutes later and it was there x2. Looks like admin took care of it. Must have been a glitch in the Matrix......
