Way cool, and a great sign things are mostly caught up, no way they do something new like this a couple of years back while so far behind in production of everything else.

'Tis the season to stop the leading in my Ruger 22/45!
Fa la la la laa la la la laaa!

Don't know why copper wash plating didn't fix it.
Fa la la la laa la la la laaa!

Don we now our hunter orange.
Fa la la laa la la laa la la laaa!

And plug that squirrel that runs before us,
Fa la la la laaa la la la la laaaaa!

Definitely different! Perhaps this will lead to other designer colors being offered to go with all those colored guns out there.

Well I just bought ten boxes. Uncle Human wins this round of Christmas too. Better luck next year, Aunt Amber and Uncle Dan.
(It's so much better being the outdoors fun uncle, instead of the "smart" uncle. At least I know how to change a flat tire and build a fire. And throw snow balls, I'm ready for you this time Brody, MUHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!)

Where did you buy them, and what were they going for?

I ordered a box from Cabelas with free delivery to the store for $20 + local tax.

Heaven forbid. If that happens, the next thing will be the emergence of fashion rules.
  • You can't shoot white powder coated bullets after Labor Day.
  • You can't mix red and pink powder coat in the same magazine.
  • And if you have a gun with wooden stocks, you have to use purple powder coat rather than blue.
I'm already hopelessly out of style all the time. I can't afford to be ostracized at the range because my ammunition's powder coat is out of style.

And then there will be all the frivolous lawsuits.
  • Ford may sue if you have bullets powder coated in a certain shade of blue, unless you got the bullets or your powder coating material from a licensed source.
  • UPS will own brown.
  • And John Deere will never let you have bullets in just "that" shade of green.
But, there are, of course, marketing opportunities. As the control of the powder becomes more precise, Remington might start offering bullets with their classic green and yellow two-tone color scheme. Just another way to find space that isn't being used for advertisements and "monitize" it.

Well, definitely a marketing opportunity. Offer it for different holidays. Different team colors. A selection for ranges to market their own stuff. Make it at bulk pricing and offer printed boxes like business cards.
Or, heck, I just used to play paintball, in which they had to color them different anyway, so they might as well have done that. I did always have good luck with a certain manufacturer that offered green/yellow or pink.

I watched the video, .22 Plinkster had on his YouTube channel about these. I found it interesting that someone is powder coating or polymer coating or whatever....22 LR bullets. He got OK accuracy with them; about the same as any other bulk pack .22 LR but nothing spectacular. These are also supersonic, so while according to him, they do keep your suppressor cleaner; they are not subsonic.

Now I wonder if someone is going to try to come out with a coated bullet like this is a match ammo. And of course I wonder if they do: how much is the coating going to effect accuracy ?

Again, interesting.

I am picturing one of these boxes for every holiday. White, black and baby blue for New Years. Pink, white and red for Valentines, after all who wouldn't like bullets for Valentines day? Green, orange and brown for Thanksgiving. Obviously Red, White and Blue should be considered year round, not just Independence Day. Every pastel color for Easter. Cherry red tracers for Washingtons birthday?

Corrosive Berdan primed, black coated seven six two by thirty nine, for Ramadan.:D

By far I prefer the three color combos, though maybe for next Christmas a silver and gold combination that comes with a free Burl Ives download. :)
