Im summer, and I am from Los Angeles. I've been living here in California for about 10 years now. I have been shooting for about 4 of those years, so you can say its still a newfound passion that evolved from a hobby.
Currently using a Glock 22 and Savage Model 110 that was a gift from my father. I used to go to range and practice occasionally, but since I've graduated from college this past June, I've been engulfed by the culture. I've been going to the range and spending more on ammunition now that all this free time has opened up. I came across this site after being linked from a different one, and immediately signed up in hopes of getting tips, advice, and meeting like-minded people!

You may see me there, as well, lol.

Hello from Kyrock, KY. Actually, Kyrock has been gone for years, but we who remember it still use the name. It was a company town built by the Ky Rock Asphalt company when natural asphalt was mined here. But that was a long time ago.

Anyhooo, I've been doing guns and shooting most of my life. I don't hunt anymore, but it wasn't the hunting I got tired of. It was the tagging and dragging and dressing and processing and all the deadbeat relatives asking "you gonna let me have some of that deer...". Ok, I'm off topic again.

2 or 3 years ago, after taking stock of the world we live in I decided to get my CCW. We can open carry here, and keep loaded guns in the glovebox or console, but it struck me that if I was here and the car was there and something happened, that probably wouldn't be of much help. I did the striker fired thing, but was left wanting, so I'm back where I started with DA/SA or DAO, hammer fired. But, I thought it wouldn't hurt to hang out and keep abreast of the newest bestest stuff, because I'm always open to newest and bestest.

I'm not exactly new but, have not been around for a few years. Just busy doing other things mostly. Right now I'm into AR's, having recently acquired an AR15. Working on making it a bit more sporty. Anyway, howdy to all and hope to be around a bit more than I have been of late.

Hello all!

I stumbled across your community while looking up some questions via google and a couple of hours later realized I had abandoned my curiosity and was cruising the discussions here. So, I decided I had to join.

I am an Army vet living in south Alabama, my wife is an MD at a local ER here. We are both huge gun enthusiasts (you know you've hit the jackpot when she shows you her gun collection on your first date!) and enjoy both shooting and collecting as our couple's hobby.

Some of our prized firearms include things like a pre-ban Polytech AKS 762 w/ side folder (my dad left that to me), our run of Belgium made Browning A5s (Light twelve, Sweet Sixteen, Light Twenty)...all round humps, of course...our S&W magnum collection with guns like the 686 Classic Hunter in 6" and the 629 Classic DX in 6.25".

We have many more ranging from AR15s to lever action rifles. Sorry if I seem "rambly"...just really excited to find what seems to be a well educated and rounded firearm community.

Thanks for having me!

Hey, I’m Craig. I’m 33 and currently live in coastal SC with my wife and 3 kids. I’m an active duty Marine having recently passed the 10 year mark in service. I really enjoy collecting a variety of firearms, my favorite caliber being 357 Magnum since I was a kid. I reload for several pistol and rifle cases. I also carry religiously and enjoy teaching my kids weapons safety, handling, and how to shoot. I’m trying to keep this brief, but I look forward to participating and learning from y’all. Been reading posts from here for years. Never been much of a participator in any forum, but am looking to branch out here a bit. See y’all around.

I own a M&P 9mm Shield , S&W 5906 and Model 65 .357, I've had basic firearms training and CCW permit and shoot at the range every week or two

You at Parris or somewhere else in the coast? I am in the Charleston area.

New member from central Illinois. Just getting into the sport. Just getting started with a couple handguns and a rifle. Look forward to learning more.
Welcome to the community! Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

New to the forum from KY. Not new to guns, fairly new to reloading. Been around and owned guns of all kinds my entire 48 1/2 years of existence. And hope to keep that up 48 1/2 more years. I have a few questions about reloading from time to time. And some about guns as well. Hopefully I can have a few answers too.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!

New here, sw pa. Long time hunter just recently started reloading again , reloaded with my dad a long time ago.

Set up dads old press and loaded some 308 using the loads he worked up 40yrs ago.

Sierra sbt 165gr with imr 4064 43.3 gr, shot just like I remembered!

Was fun remembering my dad and watching my son kill deer with the rounds I made.

Hoping to meet some new friends here. Merry christmas

Been around guns of one kind or another for awhile but didn't really start owning any until this past year. Got my first just as the ammo scare started so wasn't able to shoot for years and just now getting back into it. I plan to start reloading shortly and have an affinity for older, proven, or just plain odd guns.

Another new guy here. Many years ago I used to check THG off and on, but got out of the habit. I had to open a new account because I couldn't find my old info. Mostly a lurker, but will jump in on occasion. It looks like the board is pretty active, and should be fun to follow it again. Thanks for having me!

My name is David Kirkland and im 52 and we live in western NC. I’m a railroad employee and my firearms interest are sig,laRue tactical, and Smith & wesson.

Well been a lurker for a while, medically retired now from the Army after 14 years in and 6 combat rotations and some humanitarian missions.
Love the outdoors, have a rifle range for rimfire on my front porch, with a 10-50m lane, and a 45-100m lane.
Love shooting, even more enjoyable with my kids, 12 and 7. My 12 yo daughter hits 6-8 pennys in 10 shots from 50m with a 597hb. Some trigger, sear, spring work done on that rifle to enable me to print ragged holes with 10 rounds at 50m.
Several others and looking for a 308 7.62 NATO rifle for economical long range sessions that will leave my shoulder with some motion the next day.
I know lots of other calibers but bang of the buck both per pull and barrel life, and shoulder issues keeps me at a 308 with a large muzzle device. I have lots of hearing loss allready and have wonderful ear protection that worked perfectly at the Williams wounded warrior machine gun shoot.
I will try and both add with my experiences, and continue to learn from others, both what to do, but even better learn what not to do.

Hi, everyone. I'm Wldhare aka Rick. I've had a keen interest in firearms, from my first Ira Johnson 410. I've recently found a real interest in hand guns. A friend gave me a Tanfoglio SPA TA90. I'm ready to take to the range for a test drive. At 74 I should be able to hit any target I can see. I hope other shooters can take a joke if I hit their targets.

Hope ya'll enjoy the forum and uphold the standards of the forum so others enjoy your contributions. We can all disagree without being disagreeable.

Take a look for "stickies" permanently posted at the top of the forums since they can answer a lot of basic questions about the place or posting or even jargon or common terms to gun enthusiasts.

Enjoy and good to see you here.

Hi, my name is Nick. I’m also on TFL, same screen name. I’ve been a rimfire rifle, mainly marlins, fan for a while but recently started dabbling into center fire bolt rifles. Well that bug hit and hit hard! I’m now interested in reloading to keep my long range addiction fed. I’m looking for info on reloading and how to get those holes in paper just a little closer together!
Edit: OOPS, checking in from South Jersey. Unfortunately.

Hello from Tampa! returning to guns and shooting after years of light activity.
I've been adding to my vault lately and been spending quite a bit of time at the range and doing a little smithing.
