.41 Mag Association

Thank you on the DW, it was on my Unobtanium list for a very long time, then a forum friend of mine wanted to unload his... I told him to name his price! It's odd... I can fire full-house .41 loads in this thing and the recoil is nothing, nothing like even a 6" Smith... I don't know what it is. I've been trying to find a 4" barrel for it... when I do they cost about as much as the pistol did to start with!

Here it is with the Zebrawood...

Never saw one in .41 Magnum...until now! Very nice! Had a Pistol Pac many years ago and like so many other guns, I should have held on to it awhile instead of trading it away.

there is a company called "EWK arms" that makes some DW barrel assy & other parts.
also, CZ picked up the name, and offers some parts & service, so there is a chance.....

I had a Model 15... and got some stuff from EWK. They don't make anything for the .41 specifically, unfortunately. There is actually a pretty strong market for .41 and .44 DW aftermarket, I wish someone would cater to it.

I'm curious to see if CZ will resurrect the large-frame DW's, word is the new .357's are very nice!

No, I don't think so... Henry released a .41 lever-gun, and Ruger still spits out .41 handguns, that's in addition to the 'Classic' Smiths, and whatever Taurus is turning out. Further, the components are being stocked at more places (at least that I've seen) which is all in the plus column!

Charlie98,

I had an opportunity to buy a 8” SS DW in 41mag new in box. I thought the price of $1000.00 for it was a little high, about 4 years ago. Wish I would have bought that now! The DW you have with the zebra grips is really nice. Most DW revolvers I have shot or seen shot have been inherently accurate. I would be surprised if your was different.

...and now Ruger brings us two new .41s... An all steel Blackhawk with 4 5/8" or 6.5" barrels and a Bisley with a 5.5" barrel and unfluted/unengraved cylinder....

Fellow offered me a new in box 6 1/2 inch BH this morning. I already have a 4 5/8 and a 6 1/2 so I said no. Did pick up a S&W M-60 3 inch 357 NIB for 550. I have decided to sell the 1894 41 mag though. I doubt I will ever shoot it and that is what it was meant to do... shoot...I have even thought about selling the S&W 58 but hard to let it go. A friend just offered me a NIB S&W 57 Classic for a very good price. Be better to shoot it than my 2nd year 57

Nothing like a little late Christmas present for yourself. Congrats on the S&W M-60. It has to be a hard decision to let that .41 1894 go. I’m not sure I could that. You have had quite a few opportunities to add to your collection. Hope you get it worked out.

Although I have a bunch of lever guns I am not a big fan of them. Mine are used for hunting but that is it. Only 2 will not leave here. Have a CB 1895 that is my elk rifle in the timber..The other is a Winchester 64 in 32 Special with a bolt peep. A bit rare...That DW is a nice looking revolver. I wouldn't have been able to not buy that. I've had a few DW's..I just had a 6 inch bbl and shroud offered to me(357 nickle) for 40 bucks. Had no need for it so passed.

The only thing new I have gotten(and it is new in box) is a Ruger SP 101 in 327 Federal..4 inch gun. I had to the buy one of these as I had bought 23 boxes of new factory ammo at an auction for 70 bucks...so I just HAD to find a gun! When the snow stops I am going to shoot it. It has a pretty hefty trigger pull but if necessary I will put a spring kit in it. Nice little gun. Taking the 1894 41 mag to the gun show this weekend...if the snow gets stopped. See what it might bring..

You will probably have ignition failures, if you change springs. That Federal ammo uses the thicker cup small rifle primers. I tried changing springs on my 4" SP101 and could not go lower than 12 pounds, which was lighter than the originals, I'm guessing 14 pounds. More recently, I think the ammo has backed off of using rifle primers.

I bought my S&W Model 57 in 1981 for $390. Have shot about 400 rounds with it. I put the Pachmayr grips on it for comfort, stock grips are like a cheese grater with bare hands. I had a gunsmith put a plastic red insert into the front sight.
I've shot mule deer with it.
Super accurate, simply put the front sight on the target, frame the front sight in the rear sight, pull the trigger. Hit every time. Anyone that has a 44 magnum that has shot my pistol is amazed at the accuracy, and they leave envious. I pack it now with Grizzly 265 grainers when I'm in bear country here in North Idaho. I recently built my first hand loading bench and am having trouble finding the 0.410" jacketed soft-point 210 gr bullets for reloading. Everything seems to be hollow-point or cast lead. I've attached a few photos. I'm glad to have found this 41 magnum forum as I have never personally known anyone with a 41 mag. revolver.

I recently joined the group. Now to be honest, I don't have any particular feelings about the cartridge one way or the other. I just saw a couple of guns I liked that happened to be 41 mags.

I've put fifty mid level rounds through each of them. More to come.

Ive always wanted one, just waiting for one to find me. Its a missing gap in my magnum revolver collection. What are the heaviest common hardcasts made for this round that i dont need to cast myself?

Both Montana and Cast Performance has 265grn FN/GC bullets, that's plenty heavy for the .41. I've only gone as big as 250grn, meself.
