back pocket carry

Just easier to steal. If you could see then I guess you could grab it. He'd never see you coming. Never heard of anyone carrying in their back pocket.

In shirt-sleeve weather when out & about I often carry a small pistol in the right-rear pocket of my 501s (in a DeSantis Nemesis holster). Which handgun depends upon what kind of shirt that I am wearing.

Around the house I always carry a handgun in the right-rear pocket of my 501s. Currently that is a Glock 30s.

I do it sometimes, but only if I'm wearing something that will cover it. Usually it's a snubnose in a Mika holster. It's for when I'm too lazy, or in too big a hurry, to thread the belt through one of the usual OWB holsters.

Looks like a good way to have someone steal your gun to me.

I do stick something small in my hip pocket when out prowling around in the boonies. Got a Walther 9mm that works pretty well for that.

I stand corrected about back pocket carry. Just have never seen anyone doing it.

Funny how few carry in their "back" pocket, but how many carry in their "hip" pocket...

Me, personally? No, I don't do it simply for not wanting to sit on it.

I'd be afraid of losing it. I have in times past stuck a 1911 down the back of my pants waist. With an untucked shirt you can't see it.

I carried my LCP in my back pocket for the first couple years I conceal carried. Guns are pretty stout, you aren't going to break them by sitting on them.

And IMO that is the MOST concealable option out there (assuming your rear pockets are deep enough to hide the gun). I've been through a security check-point/pat down going into a concert once with the LCP in my back pocket and the guy just assumed I had a pack of cigarettes back there when he felt it.

I like hip/rear pocket for a small, flat auto but I don't let the top of the pocket be visible. Some holster makers include a flap that further disguises the holster as a zipper wallet. I haven't tried that kind, I'd rather just keep a shirt over it or makes sure it sits deep enough to not be visible at all.

A gun that can be damaged by sitting on it isn't worth owning. That said, I think there are 2 dangers to this type of carry- 1- accessibility, 2- the magazine release or other controls being engaged (or disengaged) by your butt. Don't want to "butt dial" with your CCW piece lol.

Google Uncle George's Pocket Holsters. He has a very extensive web site about back pocket carry and the holster he makes for it. Adequate depth of the pocket is critical for successful concealment. In my opinion, it won't work unless the top of the gun and holster is at least half an inch below the top of the pocket. I also think that front pocket carry is easier as well as more comfortable.

I carry an LCP this way quite a bit. It's not a fast draw, but its with me. With the right holster it prints like a wallet, and no I've never had anybody ask me why I carry 2 wallets. It fits tight enough I don't worry about it falling out, and would notice someone trying to take it. I don't like people getting that close to me in the first place though.
I worried about damaging the gun at first but after 5 or 6 years the only problem has been rust. It's not very comfortable when you're sitting on a hard seat but that is about the only drawback.

Been carrying one in a back pocket for going on 40 plus years. Every thing from .22/.25's up to a 45 (AMT Backup). Never damaged any of the weapons. Was never made in all those years. Did have an issue with magazines popping loose but a hole in the leather of the holster usually fixed the problem pronto.

I often take the baby chief in the right back pocket which is covered by my shirt. Not a problem.

Only if I'm going for a walk or some other situation where I'm obviously not going to sit down.

Not as an EDC but when I take my Spaniel for a walk in the woods that borders my property it's usually a J frame Lightweight in my right rear pocket, my wallet in my left rear and a speed loader in my left front. When cooler temps come I place the J frame in the right pocket of my hoodie.

My luck, I would accidentally shoot myself in the rear. That would be an, um...interesting ER visit.

When I use to take the dog for a walk (lived in a sort of dodgy neighborhood at the time), I use to have the dog's leash in my left hand and my S&W Model 38 in the right front pocket of whatever jacket or coat I had on at the time. In warmer weather I carried it in the right front pocket of my pants.

The problem that I encountered with most holsters when used in the back pocket was that even "Back Pocket" holsters showed the butt of the pistol. I wear business casual most of the time, and I can't have a gun showing.

I pocket carry a Rohrbaugh R9 in my front right pocket. I also carry a Remington RM380 in my back pocket for a backup using a back pocket holster from Kevin's Concealment Holster.

The holster completely covers the gun. Anyone looking down into your back pocket only sees a leather wallet. The gun is kept on the weak side, you draw the entire wallet out of the pocket with the weak hand and then grab the gun out of the wallet with your shooting hand.

It's not fast to deploy, but for me I cannot risk having a client or a client's employee see a firearm - period, and it is a backup gun.

I watched the video for Kevin's Concealment Wallet Holster and wondered if it could be made with some sort of mechanism that would allow the wallet to automatically open when a button or tab was pressed, giving you instant access for your gun hand to grab the gun.

I liked the overall concept of the holster just no so much with how it has to be opened with your gun hand then taking the gun out.

I have carried a Seecamp or LCP in a wallet holster for years. Everything is below the pocket line and I consider it the perfect place to carry a firearm when you "aren't allowed" to carry.

Well, some of us are able to understand that back, hip, and rear pocket are all the same pocket and therefore just believe every one should be able to do that.

I remove my gun from my back/hip/rear pocket when sitting down. I'm not worried in the least about damaging the gun, just that it hurts my rear end.

I think the perceived advantage of back pocket carry, is that if asked for your wallet on the street, you can promptly reach in and give them the end of a barrel without cause for excitement by the thug. I've looked into it with my LCP as they make wallet size holsters for that particular reason that looks like a wallet when in the pocket.

I still prefer 3:00-4:00 IWB personally.

And no I would not be concerned in the least of damaging a firearm by sitting on it all day.

I carry my Kel-tec pf9 with a belt clip in my back pocket sometimes, but only with a windbreaker or fleece that has an elastic draw string. to conceal it. It's far more comfortable than carrying in the waist, and the draw is actually faster too. Even sitting down.

I know a guy that carries in his back pocket with a wallet holster. It's pretty common actually.

Open carry in any public setting is stupid IMO, but if you're going to do it, at least use a paddle holster on your hip. I've seen people open carry in their back pocket and it's mind numbing.
