A long action bolt gun like 30-06 or .270

A .44 mag. & .45 ACP.Revolvers

A .45acp. Preferably a 1911.

A howitzer and a mousegun.


Get the howitzer first. Mice guns are everywhere and fairly cheap...

You've got hunting covered 7X over, smaller game and plinking is equally well covered, if you just want an excuse, that's different, I'd say a lighter recoiling bolt gun than .308, but with more oomph than .223 might be in order, IDK if you handload, but if not, it's high time you did! Time for reloading equipment if not already on hand, components, and a 6mm, .25, 6.5, 6.8, or 7mm chambering I think.....

For small game, a nice, lithe 28 gauge - either SxS or O/U will make the hunt that much more enjoyable........

Based on my own desires my wants after having what you have would be the following:

.22lr revolver (Ruger GP100 .22lr, S&W 617, Ruger Single Six)
.22lr lever (Winchester 9422, Marlin 39, or Uberti Silverboy)
7.62x39 (CZ 527 / Ruger American bolt) and/or AR15 in 7.62x39 "AR47"

Other than that you look like you have similar interests, I enjoy cheap ammo shooters.

West Kentucky nailed it. Get an 1851 Navy .36 and get ready for fun. But get on the Blackpowder Forum first, so you do things right. Blackpowder guns aren’t hard, just different.

If having fun is one of your needs, then you need a blackpowder rifle or two...Say, one caplock and one inline...After that, I'd suggest a flintlock...

I'm with a Glockula and Horsey... A quarter bore or other similar bolt action medial between .223 and .30. I know because I was in your shoes exactly, when it came to rifles, then I got a 7mm-08 and it is filled a hole in my heart I didn't know existed!

I agree a nice shooting 1911 should be on the list. Think about some of the other famous semi-auto's, too. CZ 75...or even better, a P-01 or P-06. A Browning Hi Power would be a good, 9mm, too.

The OP's only real "need" isn't a need at all, but a venture into "collectible" guns, and the best and easiest way to do that is with vintage S&W revolvers. K frames and J frames are the most affordable, if you stick with .38 Special. If you go to N frames or go to .22 rimfire, you start spending noticeably more, but all are worth collecting. Almost a guaranteed value appreciation, as old S&W's are so low priced when compared to vintage Colt revolvers.

A membership to the gun of the month club so you can catch up to a majority of us. Seriously, I have purchased a firearm or two and reloading gear for them because I have found a couple handfulls of matching caliber fired brass that needed to be put to use. I am more of an accumulator than a collector.
