Cz tac sport or eaa witness elite limited or gold. A really nice 1911 in 9mm. I handled the new sig. It was really nice. Reminded me a lot of a high end cz.

CZ SHADOW 2 CUSTOM ACCU 2

IIRC That is a $2000 gun. I love the Shadow 2 platform but it is built for a very specific purpose. It is for USPSA Production Division and Steel challenges. It is not a practical carry gun and it is extremely shootable pistol it is not in the same league as target guns like a 50 yard Les Baer or from report the Sig P210A.

It is a fine pistol but I would also mention that CZ QC has been weak lately from what I hear, from David @ CGW. This is not the norm. My Shadow 2 Urban Gray had to go back to the factory because the finish was flaking. When I talked to CZ customer service they said that most likely the gun was not prepped properly before it was refinished. All of that said CZs overall fit and finish is not at the same level as many other makers. They are rougher around the edged even at the $1,5000 level IMHO. Once I get mine back from CZ I am sending it to CGW for their Cajun S2 package. That will put me right at $1475 in the gun. Should be an amazing shooter.

If you want the Sig and are ok being a paying Beta tester I say get the Sig but understand that it is a P210 in name and looks only. It has MIM parts. It has a different lock up design, long extractor and other changes like the safety. All of these changes were not done to make the gun better they were done to make it cheaper. This does not mean it is not an excellent gun and a good value at $1300 which is a real world price IMHO.

Assuming that shooting enjoyment is the intent (not stare at it and look for internal toolmarks to get bothered by), then:

If you want a non-1911, single-stack SAO 9mm, the 210 is the answer.

If you want a double-stack, SAO gun, then probably a Tanfoglio/EAA Limited.... with a little money left over for Henning or Tanfo Extreme upgrades (grip panels, a thumb rest if you want, new front sight if you don't like a big fiber optic...).

If you want DA/SA, then either the CZ Shadow 2 (if you can get it in the budget) or a Tanfo/EAA Stock 2 or 3 with money for a few upgrades.

The double-stack options happen to be competitive in some of the more popular practical/speed gun games. The 210 would probably be limited to bullseye. Don't know if any of that matters to the OP - probably not, otherwise he might have mentioned it!

The OP was looking for a target/range gun not a EDC/CCW..

No CZ will be finished like the Sig.. if the OP can give a little leeway on aesthetics I'd personally go with the CZ TS. Mine will outshoot my guns that cost 5x it's purchase price.

What I'm fighting the urge to buy, if I don't get hosed on taxes, is a Sig P229 or a P226 Stainless Elite. Not the alloy framed one, the solid SS ones with the pretty wood grips. I kick myself every time I think about the one I had and sold before I even got it home from the store. A $250 profit is nothing to sneeze at though, so I took it and still regret it. Not like I need another 9mm pistol, but I do really want one.

Sounds like you want the Sig, scratch that itch.

Hopefully goes better than me when I found my "grail gun" for a reasonable price only to find I didn't actually really like it all that much (Sig P245).

Back to topic, for $1500 in 9mm I'd buy a Dan Wesson or Baer 5" in 9mm.

When I had the target 9mm itch, I wanted a 210 but they were not being imported and the old ones were rare/too expensive. I ended up with a Dan Wesson PM9. I am happy with it and am not looking at selling it to get a 210 now. I would love to shoot both side by side some day. I feel my full size 9mm “pass down to the kids” gun role is filled.
