Would new gun laws be created in the 51st state of "New California"?

Only if power wasn’t given back to the people who they are trying to succeed from.
I’d be more concerned with actually making that a thing. I don’t know the process of breaking a state in half but it sounds...um complicated.

The creation of a 51st state is a great idea. I hope (and pray) that this actually becomes a reality. It's way past time for this, and you all certainly deserve the protections and freedoms guaranteed all of us under the Constitution. Oregon and Washington are moving rapidly towards the same circumstances that has created and powered this movement and, rest assured, will be watching and assessing the progress you're making.

I honestly don’t really know what any of that means but I hope it works out for them. I know of a lot of people in Cali who are spoken for but against their views. More than just 2a subjects as well. Good for them!

Never happen. CA legislators as well as Federal will not let it happen.
If CA was allowed to split, there would be a sudden surge of other states doing the same. IL, NY, VA, OR, WA are four that come to mind.

The West Virginia split isn't a good comparison, since there were extenuating circumstances in that instance ("The Late Unpleasantness"). I'm all for anything that tends to localize government control, but as much as I would like to see this instance of secession succeed, I doubt it will happen. Both houses of the California legislature have veto-proof Democrat majorities, and California as a whole has voted strongly Democrat in every presidential election since 1992 (and the results have gone almost 2-1 for the Democrats in the last three election cycles). That's 55 money-in-the-bank electoral college votes for the Dems every four years. Not likely they will let go of that voluntarily, and right now there's no way to force the issue, either. I feel extremely sorry for all the red county residents of California, having been one for almost my entire life -- they are almost entirely at the mercy of Democratic whims in Sacramento.

Well, then we could be at that "57 states" thing after all...
And the secession of the rural counties is not a new idea. Heck, I remember talk about it when I was a kid and that's been a looong time ago.

There isn't going to be a "New California" so why wonder about something that isn't going to happen? This is in the same classification as Texas leaving the union. Ain't happenin".

My thoughts are that it’s a Conservative pipe-dream, for most of the reasons already mentioned.
