SB5992 would outlaw bump fire stocks and other 'trigger modification devices'

SB6006 would allow the governor to ban carrying firearms by anyone but law enforcement when declaring a state of emergency
Ah yes, our Democrats are certainly enjoying their new majority.

And they're so stupid, they cannot understand that during a state of emergency is exactly when private citizens should be carrying firearms. The day after I retire (for the second time), I'm so outta this state ...

For AZ, it is important to note that one of the background check bills is exactly, that, a regular bill - but HCR 2001 is another Bloomberg end run attempt to place it on the ballot, for the next General election in 2018. They got smart, and removed a LOT of the "problematic" things that the Washington one had, with the various "loans" and family gifts exempted...for now. They drool at the opportunity to remove AZ from the Number One spot for firearms freedoms. Elected officials contacted.

Here's the bills that came in this week, many of these are pre-files for the 2018 session:

AZ HB 2057 would also declare "sound dampening devices" part of state guard equipment, and exempt any firearm "particularly suited" for state guard duty from any confiscation or impediment from being carried by a state guardsman. The description is lengthy but not all inclusive of "particularly suited" firearms. For instance, my BREN 805 would not qualify as "particularly suited" for state guard duty since it has never been accepted by a US agency or state law enforcement dept.

AZ HB 2058 does the same, but goes further in establishing the Arizona Citizens Marksmanship program, which would have the state acquire and sell "particularly suited" firearms to the afore mentioned lawful state guard members, and would provide training for state guard members. I like the direction this one takes.

AZ HB 2059 does al the above and ads a clarifying bit to the Arizona Manufactured Firearms law about what is NOT allowed to be built, (pretty much pre invalidated by court action, never really tested), posted here, lined out old, bolded proposed.
azleg.gov said:
4. A firearm that discharges two or more projectiles with one activation of the trigger or other firing device is designed to automatically shoot more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.

All from just one guy, Mr Stringer. As much as I like the idea, and wish 2058 could go into law, ( their ACMP would use only donations, not state funds), I doubt they will pass. However, in 1994 I didn't think Fife Symington would sign our CCW law, either. .

A couple more for Washington, our legislature just turned all Democratic on the 1st, we are sunk.

Senate Bill 5050, sponsored by Senator David Frockt (D-46), and House Bill 1134, sponsored by Representative Strom Peterson (D-21), would prohibit all possession, purchase, sale or transfer of commonly owned semi-automatic rifles and ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds.

Senate Bill 5444, sponsored by Senator Frockt, and House Bill 1387, sponsored by Representative Laurie Jinkins (D-27), would impose a registration-licensing system for commonly owned semi-automatic rifles and ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds.

Senate Bill 5463, sponsored by Senator Frockt, and House Bill 1122, sponsored by Representative Ruth Kagi (D-32), would require individuals to lock up firearms or potentially face Class C Felony charges. This intrusive government legislation invades people’s homes and forces them to render their firearms useless in a self-defense situation by locking them up.

Senate Bill 5992, sponsored by Senator Kevin Van De Wege (D-24), would make it a crime to knowingly possess a firearm accessory or any other device, part or combination of parts that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm.

Senate Bill 6049, sponsored by Senator Frockt, would prohibit the possession of ammunition magazines holding ten or more rounds, with limited exceptions.

WOW And I thought Wa was bad this year.

Plain and simple, and for a lack of a better word New Jersey gun owners are screwed. There's a complete Democrat majority (and gun hating governor) that wants nothing more than to take every gun right New Jersey residents have. Most people we know that are true 2A people have moved out of the state.

This listing of gun bills provides a valuable service. (Perhaps it belongs in the Activism forum rather than the Legal forum?)

Two suggestions to make it more useful: Clearly pro-gun and antigun bills could be identified as such, by being color-coded red for antigun bills and green for pro-gun. If unclear which was which, they would be left in black text.

Secondly, there should be an easy way to tell if a bill is frivolous, or has a serious chance of passage. This might take a bit of research to determine who the sponsors and co-sponsors are. Some crazy ideas, on their face, have no chance of passage and are just being thrown out there to score political points.

No offense bud but we already spend many MANY hours each day just sorting through the bills that come in (at this time of the year we can be dealing with 100-200 new bills a day) so taking the time to do this just isn't feasible. You can always follow the links we provide to the sections of proposed laws and at a glance see what we consider pro-gun and anti-gun.

Sadly this isn't our 'full time' job so while we would love to spend more time doing it financial constraints keep us from be able to.

Hey all, didn't forget about you. I'm going to have to change the way I post these for you folks this year due to time and budget constraints. I will post each week with what new bills came in that week. Wish I could do more but I'm just not able.
