Went to the range today. First time out with this Colt. Very happy with it. Pretty accurate (as expected) and no fail to feed with any ammo or mags used.

This is my 2nd 1911, I have wanted a Colt for a while to add to the collection

Nice score for a vintage shooter, congrats :) . I've had several but I prefer something newer with dovetails for fiber optic sights. My current 1911 is a High Standard Crusader, officers compact .45

Nice. All i would do is have it milled for Novak low mount steel sights and buy some good mags from Wilson or McCormick.

Here's my High Standard officers compact .45
It's got dovetails with fiber optic Novak sights, a flared ejection port, throated barrel, skeletonized hammer and trigger w/ a crisp clean break. What's not to like :) ...

Congrats, nice looking 1911. I have a fondness for Colts also. Have a stainless combat commander from the mid 80's and a delta elite I picked up used in the late 90's. No clue as to how many rounds have been through them. Thousands, without any issues. Enjoy that bad boy.

It came with stag grips as well. I am trying to figure out if these would have been original or not. I suspect aftermarket. I may be looking to sell them, but not sure yet. I like the look, but they are really wide and I don’t like the grip with the installed. They do appear to be genuine antler of some sort, definitely not plastic, and based on some research I don’t think they are bone.

Can anyone give me insight on the stag grips?

I don't believe they came on the gun originally. I've never seen them come on a standard production gun. They could be resin or they could be real. No markings on the insides? Items are still made from stag even today.
Edit: I didn't notice the pic was of the inside
