Hello all.
I have had this smartcarry holster for many years and occasionally use it for deep cover in the summertime but prefer my FIST kydex IWB holster for spring /summer/fall carry. However in the winter when I have a heavy coat on it makes for a slow draw. So about 5 years ago I wondered if there was a way to use my smartcarry under my button down shirt which is what I usually wear in the winter. I tried it first without the shoulder strap but it didn't stay up. So I devised a way using suspender clamps and a piece of nylon strapping. You don't have to wear the smartcarry very tight around your lower chest the strap keeps it in place. It works really nice there is no printing and no one has ever noticed the two buttons undone when I'm carrying. In fact I usually can leave the buttons intact. It only takes a couple of seconds to unbutton the two buttons on my shirt as I'm leaving a store or I'm in my truck. After you get the strap clamped onto your smartcarry holster you can mark the areas as seen in the pics, it makes it easier to put on next time you wear it.

I like to see when people come up with a better mousetrap. I myself adapted a shoulder rig to fit better. I removed the loop strap and installed a strap off a Perry suspender that goes from the top rear of the wide shoulder loop, behind my neck and over my other shoulder, then straight down to my belt at about 2 o'clock. It keeps the gun tight to my body, doesn't swing out, and lets me reach out without constraining me.

Getting over one's phobias about printing or exposure would be more beneficial than this complicated system.

Concealed means 'obscured from view' which is very easy to do. It does not mean undetectable, or completely invisible. A lump on your side is not illegal in ANY state, and other than maybe NYC where stop-&-frisk are acceptable police behavior, it would be illegal for a police officer to demand to know what that lump is. Once you acknowledge that, and realize that even a lump is very hard to detect, you can carry your P226 without worry.

All handgun carry is a compromise; it's in the manner of prioritizing those compromises that people differ in opinion.

For folks who prioritize concealment at the top of the list; small guns in uncomfortable holsters is all they can envision.

I prioritize- effective gun in an effective caliber, then comfort, and lastly, concealment. So for me it's going to be a gun that I trust and shoot well, in either 10mm, .45acp, or .357sig, OWB, and covered with something that allows a timely one-handed draw. Yup, sometimes that order needs to be adjusted, but that's the EDC plan that I've been using for years. Never had to deal with the cops about it, never had anyone faint, never caused a panic.

I have had a SmartCarry that I was rarely using and found it makes a good bump in the night rig. They are good quality, but just a little warm when CCing in South Texas.

Mainsail, RE: Your reply to my informational post for those with smartcarry holsters and how I utilize mine for WINTER carry under a winter coat is very odd.

First I don't need to be “schooled” by you on the definition of concealed or how I should prioritize my chosen carry method, or what weapon I should carry.

Seriously dude, you are way overthinking my informational post.
