Sig 365...do you think people are excited about it?

I have a P238HD and a P290rs. On paper their dimensions are listed as very similar. However, side by side the P290 while small is significantly bigger in all dimensions save length than the 238. It appears Sig includes the sights in the listed height of the P238 but omits the sights in the published height of the 290. On small guns, a small difference can loom large. The 290 is actually about 7/8 inch wide through the grip and the slide. The slide release gives an overall width of about 1 inch. If the 365 is actually slightly over one inch wide through the grip which I suspect it must be to hold 10 rounds, it is significantly thicker than the 290 and, I gather, the 938. I am quite anxious to see one in person but I don’t expect it to be as tiny as first reports are hinting. It still sound quite interesting.

As an added thought, I think I was hoping that Sig would create a striker-fired 290 using many of the same parts and magazines and having the same dimensions much as they created the 320 out of the existing P250. But, that’s OK. I am anxious to see the 365. I also believe the 290 was very under-rated and under-appreciated for what it is. So was the 250.

If it proves reliable durable and I needed defensive carry gun I would buy this. There is nothing wrong with wanting extra thee cartridges they will likely never need. Peace of mind does wonders for the mind.

Sticking with my Walther PPSM2. Love it and looks to me the 365's slide looks like the Walther. Don't buy anything that is first off the shelf. Wait till it shakes out. Besides Bud's is selling the Walther ppsm2 for what I paid $315.

Doesn't look any smaller than a Glock 26 to me. Guess I'd have to see them together.
I dunno, looks smaller to me. Here's what I found on the net.

I'm not jumping on one straight out of the gate, but if it's in between the width of a Glock 43 and a Glock 26 (which is what it looks like from those pictures) I'm not to far behind.

Right now I'm switching back and forth between a Glock 26 and a Walther PPS Mod 1 depending on carry mode, so this would simplify things for me.

Hey go with the Walther PPSM2. I got one for Christmas(from me) and it is a great shooter and cheap on Bud's web site right now $315.

I already had a PPS Mod 2 when they first came out. It didn't fit me the same way that the PPS Mod 1/Classic did. Plus my particular M2 ejected mags periodically on recoil. They'd just pop out of the gun. Sent it back to Walther, they confirmed that it was jacked up, fixed it and I promptly sold it with full disclosure. So thanks for the heads up, but that ship has already sailed.

I got another Mod 1/Classic to replace the one I sold even though I don't dig on the paddle mag release, but I'll deal with it until I get something to replace both it and the G26.

Why is Glock 26 $506 at Buds?
Don't know but I wonder whether Glock has something to say about a bottom limit on price. Glocks are expensive every where. main reason I went away from them when I was shopping for a single stack. 26's seem to be up there anyway. I own a sr9c and a G19 so I think I cover most size's. Each one is bigger than the other.

Smaller, yes. But I stopped trying every new smaller when I bought my first G19.

Looks like this 365 is a little over an inch shorter than my g19 and that's significant, about the same height with their flush mag, and 2/10ths wider which are less than insignificant to me.

15+1 is definitely significant and I'll call it a good trade for the inch longer slide. It's $600.+ to cut that inch and five rounds less 'peace of mind' comes to a "no thanks, but keep 'em coming 'cause I'm always looking".

Very excited on the new 365. Love the Ruger LC9S but this gun at this point beats it in every catagory. Stainless Steel Chassis, barrel, comes with Night Sights, 10 round steel mag (two of them), shorter in length than the LC9S. I love the thin design of the Ruger, this is shorter, but just a little wider. It is Stainless steel build, minus the Grip, but hey, it only weighs about the same. It looks like a perfect sub-compact.

Ps Love that Sig 232 Pic. And by the way, I love the look and feel of the the Sig 238's.

To the poster that said Sigs are as pretty as High Points. I am guessing he owns a Glock.

I've got that stainless p232. It's the nicest shooting .380 I've had the pleasure to try but it's no lightweight (stainless generally a little heavier than the blued version). I've never had an issue with any ammo - never any kind of problem. But it's got the sort of weird double action pull. Pretty good once it's into single action but the first shot is a strange feel. You get used to it but I wonder why Sig doesn't iron out the "springy" nature of it.

I don't consider it to be a copy of Walther's steel PPK. Lot's similar but not the same. A popular design type in European and eastern bloc - a Makarov could be called a Walther copy too but anyone handling both wouldn't claim it as such. Similar but very different.

I like decocker pistols, they just seem to me to be the safest type to carry and I know that the P232's spongy trigger double action could be improved because my all-time favorite of the type is my little 1938 civilian Walther PPK/s .32 that has as clean a double action pull as a S&W revolver (well...almost and my opinion is definitely colored by life long love :D )

There is no reason to buy the Shield or G43 now except second-hand to save money.

As a SIG fan who begrudgingly bought a Kahr P9 some years ago, I welcome the P365. I ordered one sight unseen. Assuming it's on par with it, I'll be selling it the Kahr.
