Has anyone ever successfully gotten through to Taurus customer service? Got a inside contact?

Guess I don't know the password, total time on hold today was 47 minutes and all I am looking for is a manufacture date. The serial number look-up on their website does not cover a tired old Model 82.

It's been a bit over a year ago but I had a pin fall out of the trigger mechanism and got through right away to customer service. They sent me a new pin at no charge. The replacement pin didn't work properly so I called them back, again getting through and only had a couple minutes wait time. They asked me to sent in the pistol, paid for the shipping and about 5 weeks later got a new pistol sent to my FFL. I'm retired so I made my calls in the morning hours instead of in the evening like working people have to do.

I've had to contact their C.S. Department on 2 occasions. Got right through both times and both problems were promptly taken care of with no cost to me.

Let me save you some time. If the website doesn’t have anything on the gun, neither does the person that you would talk to at Taurus. I spent 30 minutes on hold a couple of years ago and all I got was “wow, that sounds like a nice gun, but I don’t have any information on it “.

The class action lawsuit recall has made a bad situation worse, so experiences from more than a few months ago are likely irrelevant. Their recall is not going smoothly in my experience.

Most of the PT series is under recall for possibility of firing when dropped.

High level summary. There’s a tad more to it than that.

Is there something about the settlement that isn't well known (it isn't a true recall)? I have a PT that i'm keeping because it shoots like butter but if there's more to the story I might change my mind.

Well f you call customer service about the lawsuit I think they tell you to press one. The tech advice selection puts you in permanent limbo on hold with a recording telling you how much they value you so please stay on the line.. it'll be another minute... you're almost there... we really value our customers so please stay on the line.... etc. etc. etc..
The chat option went nowhere.

Pretty much confirms I won't be buying their products in the future.

Shootr56, not sure I know how to answer your question. I believe the suit alleges that the pistols can be fired w the safety on also.

They started off offering a cash settlement and i believe they’ve stopped that now in favor of replacing the class pistols with G2’s.

I have a PT-145 that I have no intention of sending in. Nothing wrong with it.

FYI, shot show going on so the organization maybe minimally manned at the moment...

I went to buy a Glock when I bought my PT-145. I couldn't find a single Glock that fit my hand. The LGS owner I was at last said I should try the Taurus. I was very skeptical at first but he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse. But it and try it out for a month and then bring it back if you don't like it. He knew I would like it. The thing fit my hand perfect to start. Then I shot it. Exceptional accuracy from a pistol with that short of a barrel. I mean really accurate. And still to this day after 5000 rounds it has yet to malfunction. And BTW I did drop it and nothing happened.

So I decided I wasn't taking the lowball buyout a long time ago. Now they aren't even offering that. Stinks. I have a G2 and it isn't near the gun the PT-145 is. Just the luck of the draw on that I suppose but I wouldn't sell that Taurus for twice what I paid for it. It's that good. I don't carry it anymore but I keep by where I sleep. Not likely to be dropped where it is and it still serves a very useful function.

I have a stainless 94 that might have to go back, so I may be trying their service. My revolver handles and shoots remarkably well, probably delivering more than I could myself get from it. But, the spent cases are extremely difficult to extract. Since live rounds seem looser in the chambers than I'm used to, I suspect the chamber diameters are too high.

I'm in Miami, about two hours south of me, a handful of times a year. I'll see if they'll just let me hand-deliver it to them during one of those trips.

My dad had a taurus revolver that quit working years ago, some type of S&W model 10 clone. They hemmed and hawed about it, their reason being that it was no longer in production - lifetime warranty notwithstanding. I informed them that the fact that they decided to quit making my gun was their decision, not mine. As luck would have it, this was about a week before SHOT in 2011, and I was going as a military rep. So, I made some time between seeing real vendors, and headed over to their booth. When I got there, go figure- a rep from a Latin American military was speaking with their CEO. I waited my turn, and when the CEO had a moment, he asked me what was up (the latin American was still standing there) I just laid it all out right there, and guess what? All he wanted to know at that point was the name and address of my LGS. By the time I got back to NC, there was a brand new taurus 38 revolver that they DID make at the time waiting for me at my LGS, with a request to box up the inoperable one and send it back to them- which I promptly did. Then I gave my dad the new Taurus, which is still in the box in the closet. That is my only experience with Taurus customer service. YMMV.
