I was watching YouTube videos on jeweled bolts trying to determine what the purpose was. There were quite a few answers on forums. The consensus was that it mostly looked pretty.

Related to this was checkering on wooden stocks for improving grip. Discussions indicated that it was mostly for looks and that there were many other ways of getting a better grip on a stock but didn't take so much tedious time consuming work.

Then I thought for bang for the buck, when you were trying to get something that shoots, these issues would be non starters.

An example of this sprang to mind: STEN submachine gun, and instantly my mind superimposed over this image a view of a Sten Mark 5 with checkered butt and fore grip with a jeweled Bolt!

ROFLOL :-D. Maybe someone skilled in Photoshop could come up with a gag image of a mark 5 Sten with jeweled bolt and checkered stocks that would give us all a laugh and put a smile on our faces!

Something else this made me envision: can you imagine the shocked look on a gun snob's face seeing a mark 5 Sten prettied up in this manner? ;-).

Fully transferable Mark 5 Sten $8,000. ... That surprised non-plussed look? PRICELESS! lol.

There was a shop here that did a good business in nickel and gold plated MAC "pistols." I understand they lost their license for letting their customers know - or think - that they were readily convertible to full.

The wood stocked Mk IV was itself rather a dress-up, why not make it a little prettier?

One can always fantasize and hope ... that the present Administration would have another 3 month amnesty ... It has been decades since last amnesty ... If that unlikely scenario evolved ...doubtless homebuilders would take advantage to register DIY receivers. ... Que Sera Sera ... :)

Some things were just designed to be ugly (the Chauchat, the Sten, the M3 Greasegun, and the Liberator pistol come to mind). The ugliness is part of their charm. It's actually a travesty to pretty these up in an attempt to make them what they are not.

Sterling L2A3 submachine gun was "prettied up" to become what it was not: A Star Wars stormtrooper's blaster! lol. ;-)

Now, if there was only an affordable, transferable STEN gun tube with a sterling parts kit, that would be a fun home-built project! "STEN-ling!"

I'm only six figures away. ... either in income ;-). ... Or the six winning lottery numbers! ... lol. ... Always know winning lottery numbers. ... when they come out in the paper the next day! :-D

In my wide open Tundra, subguns have very little use. Even pistols have very little use, and pistol caliber guns dont get much use.

In my house, Artdeco does.........so If I had to be saddled with something like the STEN, it had better be pretty :D

Me and the wife actually sat and watched the original ''Star Wars'', about 40 years after the last time.....and they ran around with MG-34s in the Death Star, without even wrapping rags or sheetmetal on them..... keep an eye out for such...
