Whatcha gonna get with your Tax Return this year?

My plan is to buy NEXT year's ammo (for my AK and AR's) and reloading supplies (pistols, bolt gun). Originally, I was going to also put some towards a PSA-5, but it looks like that will come out of next year's return, if I am lucky...

With respect to the mod's rules and edits - I will not be using a tax return to purchase anything firearm related.

I will use my return to replenish funds. Got downsized just before thanksgiving, and start my next “real job” first week of Feb. 2 months wasn’t so bad, but the plan is to have a years worth of fixed bills saved so my refund will go to that pile. I do plan to buy something to go along with stuff I already have. Probably a decent scope for my .270

Ok, I guess this needs to be repeated. THR is a firearms forum. Not a financial advice forum or a tax code forum. We talk about firearms and how to advance and protect the 2nd Amendment. Nothing else. Stick to firearms or I will shut this down. I've already had to delete a bunch of off topic noise.

I got a raise in the middle of the year: Good
Which leaves me getting, essentially, nothing back on my taxes: Bad.

That means that I have nothing outside of my usual Gun Budget. This month was a reloading setup for the place I stay when I am working (I live away from home and am sometimes here for months at a time: Very Boring).

Last month I really stretched the Gun Budget with a safe and a new (to me) Black Powder Rifle. The tax return will be no great windfall. In fact, I may even be the opposite as my wife is still expecting a new bicycle from it.

I try to have mine setup so I end up owing about $100 when I do my taxes. I miscalculated slightly this year so I'll get a few cheap camo T-shirts, two long sleeved and two short sleeved. It's what all the in-style software engineers will be wearing this year. (and every year.)

Matt

Not a single thing. I do the smart thing with my tax refund and pay off bills so then i can have free money the rest of the year. :)

I would like another pistola maybe a ruger redhawk 44mag or S&W/Ruger 357mag or maybe another rifle in a larger caliber say 243, 308, 22-250 but other things are needed first.

Well, that's an interesting question.

I got divorced last year, so this is the first year since college where I'll be the sole decider on what gets done with my refund. I don't budget for my tax refund (with how up in the air my finances are, it was much wiser to just take whatever I get as a windfall profit than it was to count on it for anything), because I have no idea what it will be for me this year.

Assuming I get a refund. I might not, since I'll be filing single but my withholding was at married for 85% of last year.

If there is a little extra, it might go to knives, but if it goes to guns, the Sig 365 or the 3" Ruger SP101 in .327 are the most likely culprits. If by some miracle it's a lot more than a few hundred dollars, I do need a rifle.

I gotta see what's coming to me this year. Too many variables in 2017 for me to guess the dollar amount being returned or owed.

Could be I buy a box of ammo. Could be I buy a pistol caliber carbine. :)

I'm going to be getting into the world of reloading. Sort of. I just purchased a 300 Blackout pistol upper a few months ago, and the ammo choices are slim in my neck of the woods. I was hoping to get a Lee Classic Loader kit, but I don't see one for 300AAC, so I'll probly be getting the Lee Challenger kit.

Get a lee classic turret, lee dies on sale right now at midway, lee perfect powder measure, lyman micro touch scale, trickler and done. Oh and at least 2 manuals with Lyman being the first and read them. Turret does pistol too down the line.

IMO most the stuff that comes in a lee kit is junk. I tried most of them and threw them away for something better and less headache.

5.56 die set and a good powder for the same.
Any suggestion for brand of die set and powder would be appreciated.
