The glock 19x. Sorry for long post.

Hey I'm Ryan. You all don't know me, for this is my first gun forum post ever. I try to avoid forums just because internet gun talk aggravates me. But I've come out here to inform y'all on the 19x. First off I'm a glock fanboy. If it was more socially acceptable to wear glock merch I would. But then I associate with Mr Glock "fowdy". So I'm not starting this as a glock hater. But before you read more long story short this gun is a let down.... well sorta.
But this begins with me in January 20 something in my local gun shop chatting with the guys behind the counter. We talk bout the 19x and I say how much I hate it and I pick it up and swipe some plastic and bam I own a 19x. Mainly because it feels so balanced in hand. Kinda like a commander 1911. But also pick up 1000 rounds of blazer because I'm gonna test this gun and see how it performs after seeing Patrick at the firearm racks review. I shoot the gun and put about 800 rounds thru it that days and I love it so much I forget about my Sig Legion SAO and it only gets a couple mags thru it that day but I abuse the 19x. I shot it and shot it and shot it. It shot so flat and the impulse was so smooth and that glock trigger is so consistent. I decided it was gonna be my carry gun and retire my glock 41 to the project closet.
Now beside the balance I love the FDE finish. When I read it was a PVD like my Legion. I thought it was a smart move. It's a durable finish ... or so I was told. My Legion never has had an issue but she is a safe queen. Reserved for teaching new shooters and my personal days at the indoor range. But on the first of February I purchased a black point holster from the same store I got the gun and went on my way. Now blackpoint is just a generic kydex holster. Good passive rentention for an appendix setup.
Fast forward to the 10th of February and I unholster my gun to clean it because the next day I planned on going shooting and I discovered something that made me very cross. The gun is getting holster wear surprisingly fast. Which shocked me because my glock 41, 29, and 22 never had this. Which my 22 was a Leo trade in. They all had the obvious slide stop wear that all glocks have but never on the slide. I'm gonna include some pictures which are cell phone pictures but I'll get my camera and maybe make a video so y'all can see better this weekend. But this is insane for a gun that's no even a month old. I live in Louisville Ky so the weather hasn't been insanely humid in fact it's been kinda damn cold.
So long story short the 19x is awesome! But the durable finish isn't durable at all! Hate to say it but maybe there is a reason the Army chose Sig.

Haha you're right there. I wasn't saying they didn't chose it over the finish but product that maybe isn't ready for daylight.

Also the wear is on the corners of the slide by the sights and just today I noticed a new spot by my back serrations. But because of this. I guess this gun is gonna have to get rushed of to ATEI for some slide work and a refinish.

You might want to run some silicone or something through the inside of that holster to get it really slick. Kydex shouldn’t wear a guns finish that quickly. To this day the gun I own that still shows the least amount of wear for its age and use is my 3rd gen g23 from like 2004/5 or so. Still looks pretty new when i clean it up. I would be extremely happy if my g19x’s finish could hold up anywhere near as good as my g23 has. But then again my g30S is still looking brand new and that thing has been in and out of a kydex holster probably 500 times. Others complain about the gen4 finish but my g30S that has the gen4 finish is holding up extremely well, so it might just be a case of glock not applying the finish on their guns consistently. I appreciate a finish that stays looking new, but I also like a little wear on my guns as well sometimes. I’m weird like that lol

I'm with you my gen 3 22 and 29 has a great finish and never showed wear. My 41 has slight slight wear but the nose of my 19x is getting eaten up. Which my 29 lived thru a carry summer and ALL KINDS of draws and stuff.

The Army screwed themselves by asking for a manual safety pistol. This Glock would have been perfect for them. I'd assume it would have been a more competitive bid if they could have offered a plain jane Glock with a night sight.

Well mine will be black now haha. Couldn't get any videos cause of the rain we had here. But just dropped it off. Local shop is gonna coat it when it gets back from being stippled. Love the gun. If they release it in black and you still want it you should get it. Shoots like a dream! It's actually making me so mad I'm thinking about ditching my Legion. Forget that high bore axis! THE FUTURE IS NOW

Just got the gun back from being coated. Now to send more rounds down range! But another note the gunsmith did let me know there was a lot of where the slide rides on the rails. He asked how man rounds were on the gun and I told him and he laughed and said "yup that ain't right". So more date for you guys.
