You would think by now, a person would learn NOT to sell guns. I sold my first year production Model 649 to a co-worker about a year ago.

Didn't miss is for about a month. After 11 months of searching, I finally found another first year production on GunBroker in the original box.

This was an estate gun, spent most of its life in a safe.

Now, all is back to normal...

Very nice 649.

And I like 638's also.

Here is it's blue brother (model 49)

My first one was a nickel plated model 38 and once I had it, I was hooked! Use to be great to just put in my coat or jacket pocket when I took the dog for one of his late night walks.

I had a M638 but my son kept "borrowing" it so I just gave it to him. I was looking for a nice M649 I could afford for a good while but when a really nice M640 came along I bought it instead.

I now carry a M442 bit only because it comes without the ILS. I wish I would have bought a M438 when they were available. I like the black aluminum alloy J frames for carry.

I own two humpbacks:
SW M638 .38spl
Taurus 651SH2 Titanium .357mag

I like the looks of those SW649 revolvers. Would like to get one someday.

Congratulations,nothing like being happy again.

The 38 here is my favorite carry gun. It rides perfect in a back pocket since the hump keeps it from rolling over.

Another aficionado of Tyler T-Grip + old-school stock grips, I see. I tried many sorts of grips and come back to that (or grips that mimic that grip profile) for J, K, and N frame S&W revolvers. I like to add some skateboard tape along the back of the grip frame, too.

I have had that particular J frame Tyler T-Grip for many years, starting with my first Model 38 back in the early '80s. Tried a Pachmayr Compac grip as well as a Rogers Combat grip but none worked as well or were as small and unobtrusive as that Tyler T-Grip was.
