Sure it's about guns for a lot of folks, but the real masterminds who are setting up the demonstrations had this planned for a long time and waited for the perfect situation to employ their strategy and for them it was never just about guns.It also appears to be working well with the marches all over the United States and the president caving to them such as banning bump stocks.

By keeping the Republicans on the defensive about guns they cannot talk about the positives of the president such as the economy, positive relations with other countries, and others. Solely because of gun control the Republicans are on the backfoot, which helps Democrats win elections.

Sure they can help pass gun control laws now but if they overtake the president, House, and Senate then they can not only really start passing "meaningful" gun legislation they can attempt to pass their entire Democratic agenda.

Believe me, bump stocks are just the tip of the iceberg if they get their way.

They are using these students as pawns in their ultimate political game sadly.

Gun Marches Keep Republicans on Defense in Midterm Races

By ALEXANDER BURNS and JONATHAN MARTINMARCH 25, 2018

The passionate gun control rallies Saturday that brought out large crowds around the country sent a vivid signal that the issue is likely to play a major role in the 2018 midterm elections, and that Republicans could find themselves largely on the defensive on gun issues for the first time in decades.

Solely because of gun control the Republicans are on the backfoot, which helps Democrats win elections.
The gun issue can cut both ways in partisan elections. Let's not forget that the Democrats lost the House in 1994, largely because of the AWB. Bill Clinton even admitted as much.

The political effect of this year's gun debate is still murky.

You are right, though, that gun control is not really about guns. It's about gun owners. The guns themselves are a marker for going after a group that is despised by the coastal media and academic elites.

What a shock. It's a grand conspiracy that politicians will use issues to stay in office! They will rile up their target populations with social issues. You may recall that when GWB was in office, Constitutional amendments on abortion, flag burning and gay marriage were trotted out all the time. So was raising the alert level to Orange every once in awhile.

That's what politicians do! That's what fund raisers do! That's how they make a buck.

Stop being so naive.

Yes, they lost the House in 1994

Times have changed perhaps. That’s the problem.

Can we move beyond cliches? They may be well intentioned comments but we are seeing too many of them.

Of course, the primary driver is an insatiable craving for power and control. For at least the past half century leftists have been remolding the population to create a herd of hopeless, scared, and feebleminded people. People with no moral center and a tenuous grasp on the truth. Ultimately, they intend to create a large swath of disarmed, defenseless and docile people who will do and believe anything someone in authority tells them—and a cursory look at media, our schools and the level of public discourse indicates that they are succeeding beyond their wildest dreams.

I’ll agree and disagree. It isn’t about the guns, it is about the violence and mass shootings. A lot of people are just fed up with seeing a mass shooting on the news every few months.

Can we move beyond cliches? I asked and the answer is no.
