Just curious if anyone has had any luck with 50 gr v-max's and H4895 in a 22-250. Max charge is quite different between the Hornady (35.4) and Hodgdon (36.5). As always, I plan on starting low and working up, but was just curious if anyone was using this combination at or near the hodgdon max with good success and no pressure signs. I plan on shooting them out of a Weatherby and a Browning....both 1:14 twist. I actually did an initial test working up from 33.8 to 35.3 in .3 increments and found a possible node at 34.7, but was curious if people were finding a slightly higher node without pressure. I don't have my velocities with me, but as I recall they were around 3500. Both Hornady and Hodgdon predict around 3800 at max.

If you are chasing velocity, I suggest CFE 223.
If you are after accuracy, work up your load and use the chronograph to find consistency. Books are very optimistic.

I’ve never tried H4895 in.22-250. Should work ok.
I’d expect best accuracy at around 5-10% below max.
35.0gr IMR4064, 36.0gr IMR4320, 39.0gr H380 and 36.0gr RL15 have been best.
