Hi,
A friend of my fathers is interested in selling her late husband's Glock. I posted a while ago about it, he was a Deputy Chief of the United States Postal Inspection Service and bought this as a personal carry piece. Below is all the info my father texted me:

I got the info the Glock 26 SN DNY8xxUS.
He paid $464.20 for it in May of 2000

I guess two questions would be thoughts on the gun overall (We don't currently own a Glock) and secondly without knowing the condition of the pistol what would be a fair price on it? I'm sure it has not had much use on it.

Thank you
Andrew

The Gun. If I was looking for a first Glock I’m not sure a G26 would be what I would look at first. But seeing as you are looking at a G26, I would say It’s a great little gun. A little chubby maybe, but the width helps a lot in the shootability department. A sweet shooting gun. I generally keep mine loaded with 12 round magazines. For me, they shoot almost as well as a G19. Some days better.

The Price. Around here if the gun has holster wear only and no bad scratches, and comes with the box and crap, its worth pretty much what he paid for it.

I've had experience shooting the 23 and 27 so I'm not entirely new to Glocks, but have never really felt the need to buy one. I generally prefer vintage guns and like exposed hammers.

worth what whoever will pay for it. for me that would be max around $400-425. Probably could get more, depending on what it has with it.

The 26 shoots nice if you put the extended floorplates on the mags. As far as carry, its a bit chubby for my tastes. Worth about $400.

If just the gun and one magazine $300 would be a fair deal for all involved her in the SunShine State.

If I find a Glock, any Glock for $300 that hasn’t been run over by a truck, and maybe even then, I will buy it on the spot. Then put on Arms list in Tampa Bay Area and sell it at a tidy profit.
I would do it if I was a licensed gun retailer. I am not, so I guess I will have to just keep them. Please P5Guy, send all them $300 Glocks my way.

You can't realistically find one for $300. $400 is typical. I'm on a mission to find one for $350, and it's going to take a while.

Well the last gunshow a guy was selling a slightly scuffed G26 with just the ten round magazine, looking for $320. I'm sure twenty would have been dropped by waving three Benjamins at him.

they're pretty good, much heavier than your typical compacts, but not too heavy, and they are not prone to early wear as many small pistols are. Recoil it a very fast snap without a lot of roll, and reminds me of shooting 38 special. Its comfortable to shoot for most people with the short grip, and with the G19 adapter https://www.amazon.com/Glock-26-27C-GlockG26-Tools-Required/dp/B01MTQEHT0 most people can shoot hundreds of rounds without issue. I would put worth at around $400-$500 (regional). Glocks hold value better than most, figure about 75% unless its really damaged. The nice thing is that you can put 19/17 mags in it with or without an adapter, but they make grip extenders that go clamp the magazine and make it have a similar grip to a G19.

Figured I’d upload a picture

I carried a G26 for work, replaced a S&W Chief Spl. when we transitioned to Glocks. Great gun and way better for my purposes than the Chief, i.e, carried with less of a print, and 11 more powerful 9mm rounds as opposed to 5 .38Spl's.

Looks like mine; I had to add the Pierce XL extended grip, as opposed to the regular extension. That extra 1/4" means my third finger fits but it prints less than any G19 because of that shape in a canted holster.
With new ones going for $500+, $400 and up on condition would be reasonable.

I love my Glock 26. It's my night biking gun, 100% of the time. It also has the distinction of being the only weapon I considered buying a second copy of, just so I could carry one on each side. I never did it, but I still think the gun perfect for that, if somebody's a mind to. Added a Pearce extension, and later took it off, actually preferring the 3 finger feel. Have one G17 mag and grip extension, also for the range.

On a local gun board a member has a G26 that he modified and is asking $750.
All stippled and scrubbed, two ten round mags with finger extensions and some other non-Glock parts.
Hopefully he knew what he was doing.

Good luck with that............

I don't see the point of magazine extensions on the G26/27. I know why people do it, and I know I'm not original in my thinking, but if you extend the grip, you might as well get a G19 since the grip is the hard part to conceal.

I love the G26. I wouldn't sell it. It's the same dimensions as a G43, just thicker, with the ability to use G17/19 backup mags.

I would pay around $400 in my area for a used one.
They are pretty tough and should be plenty serviceable even if used.
Takes a lot to wear out a 9mm Glock.
I like mine for concealable platform but with the option of extended magazines if I need more firepower.
