Greetings all! As many of you may recall, I assumed responsibility of StevesPages after Steve passed away, so as not to have the website perish. It is still alive and well.

I am writing this today as an FYI that I am making some changes there in admirable traffic. Of late I have found many from around the world attempting to download the entire site, leading me to make some pretty dramatic changes in the form of network blocking at the firewall. These blocks encompass up to class B networks (approx 64000 IPs in single line filters) and any Arab countries. Last week I noticed a good deal of traffic from Palestine and though it was not an attempt in this case to grab the whole site, I don't want a militant group stumbling across (for example) a cache of old Russian arms and getting info/manuals on getting them working against Israel or even our guys on the ground somewhere.

So this message is to let you all know that if you use StevesPages and find the site inaccessible, it may be due to these blocks I've implemented. If this happens, I encourage you to write me and I will open a hole for you that you may still use the site!

As always I am available at [email protected] and do not want to block legitimate users of the site as this is certainly a possibility with the type of blocking I am implementing.

The website has grown to 48 GB with the constant addition of manuals and diagrams that users submit frequently. I had planned on working up and posting more load data but tasks here and time have made it so that I almost don't load anymore and in fact have only been out shooting 3 times in the last two years. But manuals keep pouring in, which is good. In addition to the old menu system Steve was using, I have a new "folder" that is browser and sorted by manufacturer.

With this said, I hope all are well and having a blast!

Chris, thanks for the work and dedication you are putting in. Steve's Pages has always been a good read and if we had lost it we would have lost a bit of humankind's accumulated knowledge. My hat's off to you.

Thank you for taking over that site. I spent a lot of time there when Steve was alive. I actually conversed with him and he became a friend. I was saddened to hear of his passing.

Wish you the best with keeping the site going.

Thank you for picking up the ball and running with it. Sir...

Steve's pages have long been part of my resource library, and I would have sorely missed the site if not for you...

Thanks for the work.

I was on the site this morning looking at a ballistics calculator. Everything seemed to work fine.

Guys, it's up as a memoriam to Steve... it's many yrs of his work so I can't take credit for it though I understand and appreciate the cudos!
Again, my reason for bringing the topic of StevesPages up is to bring attention to the aggressive filtering I've been required to implement. If you find the site unaccessible, please email me at my above posted address and I'll make sure you can get in. Please take only what you need from the site and enjoy!!!

Some of you may not have seen the historic vids section... I recommend it as I think many of you will find the same interest in it as I did!

As always, if you have a manual that I don't have posted for all, please send me a copy to post! :)
Chris

Additional...
Please limit downloads to what you need. Logs show downloads of hundreds of files at a time and over a half G/B with some going multiple G/B per visit and in multiple visits. These are the kind that will get blocked. I thank all of you for your time and enjoy the site!!

Chris

Thanks for keeping this valuable resource available. I corresponded with Steve a number of times and submitted several manuals that he did not have posted and downloaded a few that I needed. For those who have not been to the site, there are manuals for a number of different weapons, FMs and TMs, reloading equipment, bullet and powder information, knives, and a lot more. It's definitely worth looking around.

Thanks for continuing the legacy, and for the reminder. I have stevespages in my favorites folder, but it's been a long time since I've been on the site.

As most of you know I have been dealing with some issues at StevesPages. Most of the site is still down while I work on a permanent solution. In the meantime, if anyone needs something that is in a closed area at StevesPages, just email me and I'd be happy to provide what you are looking for via return email!

I'll post again when I have a permanent solution in place.

Chris

Thank you very much for both the labor of the website and doing due diligence in keeping information from reaching bad actors

Hoping to get the site back up perhaps by the first part of next week.

Update... Password implementation is working. The time delay is that much of the "meat" at StevesPages is in the form of the 4000+ .html files that must be moved out of the root where Steve had them and then editing the corresponding 4000+ entries in the menu system to point at the new file location. AARGH lol So still looking like lots of midnight oil until it's done. Still hoping for Tues or Wed for full functionality. But it will survive.

I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing, this is the first I've heard of it.... I have visited his site numerous times and always found it a wealth of good information. Thank you Chris for keeping his site active and all of the information Steve collected still available to us...
