If you could buy the DD5V1 used from a colleague for $1400 or a new MSR 10 from Savage, for slightly less, which way would you go? I know the DD has a much higher price tag new but I am really looking at quality, accuracy, and reliability issues. Up to now I have been a Colt man in the AR department and never really considered entering the 7.62 arena until now.

Thanks for your consideration.

Savage = Adjustable gas system +
DD = Geissele SSA Trigger +++
Looking at both w/ 16" barrels

Please don't throw other makes/models into the mix.

I got my NEW DD for $1300 not too long ago. DD all the way.

My bud is offering 10 x 25 round magpul mags in the deal. However $1300 seems like a steal. Are we talking the 7.62 not the 5.56? Was that at a LGS, gun show, or On The Price Is Right?

* Now there's an idea for NRA TV, a gun version of The Price Is Right!

My LGS just went out of the FFL business (as far as carrying inventory and ammo) they'll still do FFLs. They had to liquidate in order to move. They're doing custom holsters and beer brewing now.

DD with 10 mags and a Geissele trigger? Yea, I'd spend that little extra over a new Savage.

Well went w/ the DD. Some minor surface scratches but otherwise very nice. Cleaned off the Froglube and re-lubed w/ Breakfree. Have not mounted optics yet but test fired today. It is one smooooth shooter!

You made the choice I believe most people would have made(unless their username includes the word Savage). It’s certainly the choice I would have made.

Congratulations.

I only have a few AR fifteen and zero AR tens. I do not know the difference between duty grade and hobby grade. Could some one please tell me the difference? I am a novice as a lime is green.

About the only "duty grade" currently produced semi auto .308's I'm aware of are the KAC rifles, FN Scar and maybe M1A. Guess you'd have to define "duty grade", I take it as meaning a gun that has served law enforcement and military service.
