In this case the cop was picking up her children from school with some other mothers when an armed robber showed up. She quickly took charge of the situation and shot him dead in the street.

Parenthetical observation as a woman, amazing how her shoulder bag stays firmly on her shoulder during the whole encounter, she must have trained a lot with it. According to the narration that's where she carries, so it makes sense that she would have trained to engage in a way that does not let it slip off. (Reminds me of that quote about Ginger Rogers doing everything Fred Astaire did only backwards and in high heels LOL.)

Looks like she used her weak hand to retain the bag and fired one handed point shooting. She was close enough that she was able to pull that off with great speed. She then switched to a two handed grip while she was beside the partial cover of the car and assessing.

I always recommend people be able to shoot close up one handed. The weak hand can then be used for fending off a hands on attack, and for balance etc.

This lady did a great job, and took the badguy completely by surprise.

Nice center mass shot. She’s A hero, but the story would be played out different here in the US. The left winged media would have portrayed her as the villain and the robber as the victim. They would have put up pictures of him when he was 8 years old and question why did the officers have to kill him. Why couldn’t she have just made him put his gun down.

Ultimately a great job and good outcome.

The ONLY thing I might criticize her on at that close a distance was going towards the BG with her arm straight out one handed. Probably sounds like I'm nit picking and maybe I am, but it still stands to me.

This would be great to discuss in ST&T...

Looked a little like she put a second into him as the car pulled back.
That "jump" of the gun isn't her firing another shot. She was gesturing for him to roll over on his side so that she could access the gun he dropped

She fired three rounds, all of which hit the suspect in the torso.
Yup, all 3 during the initial contact...when her muzzle was within 3' of him

I also thought that the first couple of times I saw this on Facebook, but...

I think her concern wasn't so much "gun retention", but that she was in a crowd of children and mothers where shot placement was likely a higher priority to here...especially since he had his gun out and pointing at the crowd

I have yet to watch it on "the big screen" of a pc and the initial action is out of view. But it looks to me like he was backing away as she was shooting. Having one hand free she had the option of a block, counter strike or shove had the badguy attempted a grab. She appears to be a fairly healthy lass too.

As far as technique goes it is just as fast to withdraw an extended presentation one handed in the face of an attempted grab as it is two handed. A single hand can be withdrawn farther out of reach and manoeuvered for shots directed for effect in a hands on skirmish while the weak hand is available for maintaining balance, breaking a fall, counter strikes etc.

My take is that it is the extended one hand point that allowed her to put three quick shots in the torso from a very close range in a very dynamic close encounter. This is why I think it is so important to be able to shoot one handed close up. It is extremely versatile, there is a free blocking and counterstrike hand/arm, balance can be maintained on the move, and there is a better peripheral view of the ground reducing stumbles, slips, trips and falls etc

Moving rapidly in balance with a two handed hold, shooting, is much more difficult in the on demand real world than range time can prepare for. Curbs, changes in gradient, traction, ground imperfections, obstacles etc.

Watching it several times, she seems very much in control of what she is doing and attentive to the badguy's reaction and decline. I think had he been capable and attempted any counter attack she would emptied the mag into him and then beaten him to the ground if needed.

As a retired LEO and firearms instructor ,I saw her actions and was SO HAPPY to see her take charge and take the matter into her very able hands.

Bless her and her ability to SAVE LIVES !.

"Good guy [ gal ] with a gun" is all you need to know.

Happy no one was hurt but the ******* who thought he could take advantage of another. After watching it over and over again Im surprised the car didnt freak out and take off. Fortunate for her it didnt run her over.

Badguy went down quick too. Be interesting to know what kind of ammo she was using.

I think the fact that he was shot unexpectedly and 3 times had more to do with it than the bullet. He probably wasn't even thinking that a bunch of women might have a gun or two in their possession and would use it. Three slugs center mass regardless of the type of bullet is a lot of trauma.

I agree. But it was rapid incapacitation.

Well, unless the laws in Brazil have changed drastically since when I was there in the 80's, the odds of anyone, (other than a cop or criminal..), having a gun were pretty slim.
