Met a man at my shooting club yesterday who says he shoots all the time and it is his main interest and diversion in life.

He lives 21 miles from the range one way and visits there twice a week on average in good weather. His passion is single shot rifles and reloading. He has 3 Ruger #1's in different calibers, and some very old bolt actions. One of the Rugers is in a LARGE African caliber. I can only imagine what it must be like to shoot.

My interest is more casual. I love hunting and shooting but share my time with two other major interests. I can't honestly say that guns are #1 with me although EDC makes it perhaps my most important interest.

I won't lie, I do get excited every time I pick up a new firearm and really enjoy reading the post here.

Any of you, like this gentleman, find guns to be your predominant interest?

I have two interests, cars and guns, and I'm not sure which one is the most important to me. I do and have shot a lot, but I've owned quite a number of cars in my life. I think I've owned as many cars as I have guns though the number of guns are adding up. I belong to a car club and participate in car shows, road runs and other club activities. I used to shoot rimfire benchrest but have reduced that to local club matches and now shoot rimfire silhouette as my primary competition. I just got back from the pistol range where I shot my SD pistols, 200 rounds worth, and my right hand feels it.

Used to be into hot rods and bikes, but after 20+ years of turning wrenches professionally, I don't ever want to touch another engine again. The traffic congestion takes all the fun out of driving and riding too.

I do still have a world-class Star Wars action figure collection, with 10k+ figures and hundreds of vehicles and play sets, but haven't bought anything new in, oh, ten years or so and most of it is stashed in deep storage where I can't see or enjoy it.

So, at this point in my interests, I'm 90% guns, and 10% anything else.

Guns have been my #1 hobby and interest since I was a kid growing up. I mostly enjoy shooting rimfire guns or thing of oddity. I have polymer guns but prefer the look of classical wood and iron. I also hunt but those hobbies go hand in hand. The only other interest I have at the moment is knives but it is a distant third.

I love the outdoors, to hunt and fish; the sun rise and set on an outdoors day is a real gift. I am very much into finer guns and have a small collection of such. Guns and shooting are definitely a deep passion but I must admit that my most fulfilling passion and my greatest joy is my wife and children. I cannot imagine a life without guns, hunting and fishing but a life without my family would be unbearable.

Clay targets for me. 21 miles is nothing; I have driven 2+ hours each way for a sporting clays tournament

For me its guns and Harleys. I have 4 Harleys and I don't know how many guns. I live about 25 miles from a world-class facility where I shoot, and I go about once a week. Where I mainly hunt is a 5 minute ride on a 4 wheeler from my house.

I used to be all about carrying and shooting but that's changed due to health concerns. Now I can't remember the last time I went shooting and spend most of my time on the Xbox.

I can "do gun stuff" in the house while the kids are sleeping. I only get a few hours on the weekend, which works out to about one range trip. (Thank you, Mom) I would love for it to happen more regularly though. I don't have any more hobbies at the moment, as the kids are also not into long distance biking. :(

I did get my little bear to the range last weekend with his Wed Wascal Wifle. Best time I had in a while.:)

Of course, reading THR and typing are pretty quiet and I can do it any where in the house...;)

For me, firearms and shooting used to be my #1 passion. For the past several years however, the order has been a little different:
1. Family - wife and three young children :) I'm loving life!
2. Work/business - necessary to support #1 and all other passions + has become a passion itself
3. Weight lifting & physical fitness - like shooting this is an enjoyable, measurable hobby + maximizes the odds that I'll be around to enjoy everything else for as long as possible...
4. Firearms and shooting - my old standby... Me time. A useful, imperative and enjoyable hobby. ... It just doesn't get as much time as it used to...

Always had an abiding interest in things mechanical: cars, planes, and guns (and knives too). Use to hunt, fish, make the rounds at the gun shops and gun shows, and go shooting a lot more when I was younger but nowadays work and family pretty much take up all of my available time. Friends I use to go hunting and shooting with have moved on and urban sprawl continues to take it's toll on former hunting grounds and places where I use to go shooting at. The one thing I still find time to enjoy though, in regards to guns, is my little sojourns from every day reality by coming here to the forums at THR.

I am spread way thin. Airplanes/flying, boating, fishing, kayaking, SCUBA and UW Photography, hiking, camping, big in triathlon (swim, bike, run) cycling, astronomy, watches, mechanics, oh, yeah, guns and shooting. And some other stuff.

Just guns, sorry no, I like them, but I like to do lots of other things too. But the guns are important.

Shooting and handloading are my favorite hobbies, but I do have others. And none of my hobbies are cheap.

I also enjoy pipes and cigars, fountain pens and love playing golf.

If I didn't have these other hobbies, I could have a larger gun collection, but variety is the spice of life.
I live in the city. Can't shoot all the time.

Guns and shooting are my primary hobby. Hunting is my second I have had others but I just moved on from them over the years.

I used to have a 73 T/A but I sold it. Fast cars just weren't as fun as they were in my 20's. And it couldn't seat a family of 5 without using the trunk. The whole car thing wasn't for me I used to be into snowmobiles and before that 4-wheel drives.

Might get back into those now that my 2 oldest are about to leave the nest and I have friends and family that are getting back into sleds and 4x4's and we could do those as a family so Mrs. Mike .45 is totally on board with the money required to get back into them.

As a family we do a little RV/camping in the Summer and some boating and fishing. We do a LOT of shooting also. Both my extended family and my wife's extended family are into guns. We plan big trips up to mountains spend all day and sometimes we camp out overnight. Set up our own range and have a great time.
