Hi All -

I have a circa 1990's cannon safe and I am getting ready to move. Is there something special that I need to do to prep it for the move to make sure that the locking mechanism etc survives the move?

Thanks for the help

I have moved several. I just put a rug down and laid them in their backs in the truck or trailer. Never a problem.

My major concern is the fact that some safe manufacturers have a panel of glass inside the door and it needs to be secur d for moving. Does anyone know if older cannon safes have an issue like this that I need to prep for? Thanks

No glass in my cannon. To be sure though you can pull the Sheetrock panel inside the door and look at your mechanism. Just pry the top out just enough to get a good grip on it and lift it out. When I move I use a cheap appliance dolly on carpet and then I lay mine down on rugs with carpet side down to slide it across hardwood. The back of my door falls out every time.

If I was worried about the dial and lever on the outside, I would just slap together a square box out of boards and a piece of plywood and ratchet strap it to the front.

Let the movers worry about it........and make sure they don't do the .60/lb insurance
