It is time to buy brass for my wife's 260.
I usually resize 308, ream and anneal it.
How does Starline brass compare to Nosler or Winchester?
I have had terrible luck with primer pockets on Hornady and Federal brass.

I've been using the Starline brass in my 6.5 CM. It's not in the same class as Lapua, better than most commercial brass. The primer pockets were ok but not real tight like my Lapua brass. Lapua brass would probably get you 10+ reloads depending on how hot the loads before the primer pockets start to get loosen since you anneal. The wall thickness was running ±0.0005" with a few slightly more. If your turning the necks you will probably end up around 0.0135" wall. Depending on use Lapua brass will probably feel you need with very little brass prep. With Starline you will have to do all of the brass prep. Brass cartridge will be at trim length, very consistent.

I don't mind prep work, I just don't want off center flash holes or large variation in capacity.

They were pretty consistent on volume and all flash holes centered. You will need to remove the flashing from the inside of the flash hole. Some I had were fairly pronounced but not near as bad as Fed Rem, or Win. If you can find my post I did a comparison against Lapua brass. It had dry weight, volume measurements, Length, and wall thickness.

Is she bad about losing brass? How many pcs do you need?

200pcs if Lapua brass should last until the barrel is almost shot out (assuming you are 500-1000 shots into the gun)

If you lose a lot of brass, just shoot Winchester or look for prime once fired brass. Prime brass is made by Norma

I have not used that caliber brass but all the Starline brass I have used (mostly handgun) has been good consistent brass that needed less prep than most Fed, Win, etc.

I started with Rem brass but scrapped it. Bought a box of Nosler and reloaded it to failure. Then I was given a box of 308 S&B brass and got the best accuracy from it after I prepped the cases.

I can't see buying Lapua brass since it's only pushing a 100 gr Amax at 2900. Far from high pressure.

I trust Starline and I would buy their rifle brass if I needed any. If you only have brass you formed I would treat your wife's rifle to 100 new cases. It just might improve accuracy too lol.

Not sure how many shots you got out of the Nosler brass, but it looks to be $55 for 50 pcs

Lapua can be had for $98 for 100 pcs (mile high shooting)

Assume 10+ firings in the Lapua brass, that is a whole lot of shooting with great brass and the cost is around or under 10 cents per shot.....

I am shooting Winchester brass currently in my 308, the 200 pcs are 4 times fires now, I hope to get a few more cycles on them before I switch to Lapua. Zero issues and pretty darn accurate

With annealing I got about 12 firings. The S&B brass was about 8-10.

It is shooting under an inch at 300 yds with no wind. With the Remington cases I struggled to get it to an inch at 100.

I'm reading good things about Peterson brass. Small primer pocket is an option. I'm guessing with Starline and Peterson in the mix, Lapua will have to lower its prices. Competition is a good thing.
