I've been pretty lucky to have never bought a gun that had problems that could not be easily fixed, so I have no experience with the customer service of any gun companies. In your experience, who will work with you and who is not worth trying with? Any stories?

Ruger has been outstanding in my experience. I have a number of Ruger revolvers that have been flawless. But I have also had a few Rugers that needed to go back for service, all first-run items: low serial # LCP, GP100 in .44 Spl, new PC Carbine. In each instance, Ruger sent a return authorization and pre-paid shipping label, fixed the issues, and returned directly in very short order. I am a very happy Ruger fan!

Only had one sent in and that was to Ruger to have the transfer bar safety installed they were offering on their Blackhawks. Added a note that one chamber was a bit tight and rounds had to be pushed in to load. Got it back in about two weeks with the bar installed and a new cylinder.

Several that were good to me are:

SCCY. CPX2 developed a burr in the firing pin channel. Sent me a shipping label and it was fixed and sent back in less than a week.

Ruger. MKII had what was either a deep scratch or a crack. Emailed a picture to Ruger, they sent a shipping label. Called me back, said it was a scratch. Told me the pistol was worn though, (it was some 25 years old) and asked if it had any sentimental value. Not really, and asked if I wanted to have them refinish it. Sure. They rebuilt it, refinished it, and sent it back to me. No charge!

Hi Point. I have had reason to call them three times. Once to purchase new springs, the other two times to get parts that I either lost or damaged. Each time I had the parts in the mail within a week. Neither time was I allowed to pay for the parts, even when I told them I was the culprit.

The worst? Taurus. Different answer every time you called to check and long turn around times. All I needed was a recoil spring for my 24/7. Why did i even have to send it in for a non-restricted part? A wear item even.

I've never had to send a firearm in for service, but have had to call SCCY and Armscor/RIA. Both have been stellar. A+ from me.

My friend had great luck with Kel-Tec. Sent him a front sight, no questions asked for a beat up PF9.

Ive only sent two guns back to their respected manufacture
Taurus - 85 that would light strike - No complaints, other than me having to foot the bill to ship it to them. They shipped it back to me on their dime in approx 2wks if memory serves correctly. (Course the gun was 20yrs old and came with my wife.)
Glock - single shot G19 - glock paid back and forth and sent me a new gun.

So no real complaints from either.

The best service I have ever had with a firearm was with Hi Point.
I bought a Hi Point 9mm pistol off armslist for $50 too use as a beater to keep on my 4 wheeler. After I got it home, I realized that someone had cut the bottom of the slide to fit a laser(!). Long story short, Hi point mailed me a new slide and all the springs for free.

The worst was Taurus. A 14 week turn around too not fix the problem on a brand new gun.

I've had two firearms over the years that I returned for repair.
Ruger: Took two trips but Ruger got it right the second time and replaced the cylinder. Took a total of six weeks but my LGS took care of everything so it was pretty painless for me. Didn't mind the wait as I felt comfortable that they would take care of it.
Taurus: This was years ago and it was the .22 LR/.22 WMR cylinder conversion model not the Tracker series they produce now. Out of the box the .22 LR cylinder would not turn. Sent in for repair and returned 8 weeks later with a note that said they couldn't replicate problem. It was obvious they hadn't taken it out of the box. Attempts to contact them was beyond frustrating. It really turned me off from buying another Taurus product although after shooting some of their latest offerings I have been tempted.

Glock CS was great. I sent them a g19 with 20-25k rounds down the pipe that was having trouble resetting. I sent it Saturday, a technician called me Tuesday after diagnosing that a spring was not quite attached right. by Friday I had my gun back and glock had replaced all the internals free of charge.

Henry Rifles.
If you send them an email their president, Anthony Imperato is likely to be the one that answers.

The Henry Guarantee
From Owner, Anthony Imperato

“Henry owners have my personal guarantee to make certain that they are 100% satisfied with their purchase of our rifles. If you are going to spend your money on a Henry, I can assure you that we will do whatever it takes to make sure that you are happy that you bought a Henry.” - Anthony Imperato

Had excellent service and turn around on a Ruger MK512. Unfortunately the repair changed the serial number meaning I had to spend more money for California hoops to get my own gun back. Instead, I put it on consignment to let the next buyer pay the fees and used the money from that for a Mossberg 500 Persuader.

I struggle with this.

Through many posts in this forum, I have tried to moderate my views. I prefer that you never have to find out how good the CS is. "Give them a chance to make it right." Well, they had a chance when they built the gun and sold it to me, didn't they? I also get the willies whenever I have a problem. Like, "All the other guns are good, only MINE had a problem, so MINE is the lemon, and even if they fix it, do I still have to worry?" kind of willies.

But I have sent a few back over the years. I bought a commemorative Para Ordnance that wouldn't feed because of a tight chamber, so I sent it back, and it was better. Then the ambidextrous safety kept wiggling apart, I sent it back, told them to just put a regular safety on, and they did. Call tags both times, no arguments. But now Para is gone, so that example isn't very helpful.

I recently bought an RIA/Armscor with a bad extractor. They had me send it back, and were very helpful and friendly....and they made it worse. So I had my local guy fix it.

I had an original Sigma that had all kinds of problems, and a local smith who was S&W authorized did all the work, no problem. But it still sucked.

I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Ruger at all.

For optics, Vortex seems to be leading the pack for CS. I hear guys who damaged scopes by torquing them too tight, Vortex gives them a new one.

I have had great CS from Springfield armory, and browning. Good results but poor communication from ruger. And from S&W I got such poor and confusing communication that I never even sent the revolver in but it still needs some work done.

Have sent guns to KelTec with quick turnaround and great service for free even on a second hand purchase. Same with a Kimber true custom carry with Kimber laser grips and the problem was my fault for jamming home a longer magazine - was also a second owner and fixed for free. Taurus was a little slower but still OK in my book as you never know how busy they are when you return something. Ruger for converting an older single six to safety bar version. Others have been parts purchases for upgrading on my own and have also been great including CZ, Witness, KelTec, Ruger, Desert Eagle. Only part problem was in finding one and that was for a Norinco.
