for Cowboy shooting, I use donuts made from IV tubing as cap holders, and I've never had a cap fall off during shooting or jam the hammer..

yep I just got thru doing these mods on both my new traditions 1851 ranger/navy 36 caliber revolvers and I figured hey what have I got to lose as I was planning on buyin the slix shot nipples but if this works well pietta nipples with this simple mod is cheap :) plus I rounded the edges on the square cut on the hammer faces so the caps can't stick so soon i'll give a report as to wether this works or not.... ;)

I like Blackie and his videos. Reminds me of the family friend / mentor - Ron, who taught me to hunt and shoot as kid growing up in a single mom family.

A key point mentioned at the end of his 2nd video is... Don't use a Dremmel Tool!!!
I was thinking Dremmel watching his 2nd video.

Yup. As an everyday carry/working gun, I use aquarium O2 tubbing you can get from wallyworld for like three dollars US for 10 feet... Can cut 100 or so at a 1/4 or less in the time it takes to watch a show... Havent had a problem yet.

Shrugs... Works for me.

It certainly helps. When I KNOW its going to be heavy rain, or when I may be going into a bear, hog, meth head or other dangerous critter situation Ill use conversions... But I have never had a problem with well sealed rounds, front and back... and Ive shot 4 and 6mo old rounds just to be sure..

This was about 5 years ago: "I'd bought some more Tresso nipples from the Possible Shop for my 1856 Pietta and needed to empty the cylinder that I bought them for. I shot that one and one other cylinder for fun and later went to clean all and put the new nipples in. Those two cylinders and the third I have had been loaded for over 6 weeks and the gun had been doing duty in the pickup so it was hot/cold etc.
My son had me on the phone and the wife was talking to me when I put the cylinders and the gun in a sink full of dish soap and water. When I went back to clean everything an hour later the second cylinder I started using a brush on, under the water and suds was fine until I lifted it out of the water and saw the shiny caps on the nipples. EEEEEEEEKKKKK.I blasted the cylinder with canned air an let it sit out until today (20?hours) and put it in the gun and walked out back and it fired like it never was under water! I am astounded. idunno.gif " That was posted in Traditional Firearms Forum.

I was mad that I didn't notice the loaded one but happy about the results.

well guys I have a report!! I took both my 51 colts out this morning and tried the mods I did as per blackie Thomas said to do in the video posted and to my surprise they performed way way better in fact I ran 36 shots 18 shots per gun and never a cap suck and I would cock the revolvers with it laid over to the right in a flat position and most caps fell off so yeah his advise was well worth doing!! ;)
