Might want to check your Walmart Mini 14 $399

Thank you, everyone! And especially Slowr1der with the inventory links! First of all, that's a website I need to keep track of. Second of all, I scored the last 10/22 at my local Walmart this afternoon. It was listed as "0--limited stock" and they had none in the display case but there was one in back. The counter person looked it up and said "$209". Then I asked her if she could scan it and the UPC scanned as $124....so, can't have enough 10/22's right? Lego's for adults?

There are two $399 Mini-14's at another Walmart about 20 minutes away, but I sold my purchased-used-mini-14 a year ago for what I paid for it under the justification that a) I wasn't shooting it, b) it couldn't do anything one of my AR's wouldn't, and c) it was not as accurate as any of my AR's. No matter how attractive that $399 is, I just keep telling myself; "put it into another AR if you must have something else that shoots 223." Much more practical and I don't have to buy more magazines specific to the gun.

The takedown 10/22's here aren't on sale, but I'm going to check the link every day for awhile. A $179 takedown would be the berries.

Those 10/22's are a steal at that price. I'm a huge 10/22 fan I and I paid more than that for my last one that I bought used. I almost bought the one at our local Walmart, but I tend to have trouble leaving them stock and I don't need another 10/22 that I know I'm going to end up dumping a bunch of money into upgrades on. So I left it there.

I really wanted one of the takedowns as well, but they aren't on clearance at any stores near me.

Live up near Albany ,work in Chatham. Fishkill is a little ways down there.
I don't know if you checked out those Brickseek links, but the Wal-Mart in Hudson is still showing "limited stock" on the $399 Mini-14 right now. That's shouldn't be too far out of the way for you if you work in Chatham.

I found a Walmart that had the Stainless Takedown on sale at $169 and saved driving 60 miles to get it by using "price matching" at a local gun store showing them the BrickSeek Walmart inventory link.

I don't think there's a single one of those markdown firearms left in my entire metro area.

With all the rimfire shenanigans in the last couple years, I am surprised and impressed that so many of you were able to get one of these. Congratulations!

The wallmart closest to me does not sell guns. Hasn't in years.
The wallmart a few towns over sells black powder rifles.
Not sure what's wrong about that, it's simply the truth.[/QUOT

Sorry! I didn't read your post correctly. I thought it said generally that "Walmart doesn't sell guns". I'm aware that some Walmarts don't sell guns.

There's actually a couple stores here that brought back firearms into inventory----both are on the edge of town----no Mini's though.

I drove 30 minutes out of my way tonight to buy a $399 Mini 14 but the electronic signature pad was broken so no firearm sales could be completed. And this was after waiting 20 minutes for them to send someone to the gun counter. As you might imagine I was not amused.

The guy said they would hold it for me at that price until they get the system working again. We shall see.

I would love one of those takedown 10/22s for $169 but none are in stock in my area.

2 of the 3 Walmarts by me with guns have 'broken' signature pads. ??
But mine won't hold guns.

I don't understand that. I know they have an electronic copy but they also have a hard copy they put in a book.

Why can't they let you sign the hard copy. That is the only legal requirement from ATF. I would ask them about that.

I am sure there is a corporate policy about it. Also why can't they get a signature pad from the Auto repair center. All they do it plug in the terminal?

There was a mini close enough that I thought about going... I had a mini stainless ranch and it was nice enough but it could not do what an AR will and the price of the mags compared to the AR mags is such that I just could not do it... I thought about flipping it but really by the time ya figure time and gas not worth it let some other guy grab it. Still kickin around another 10/22 though :)

Just as an FYI "flipping them" is not legal unless you're an FFL. Private gun sales are legal but buying a gun with the explicit INTENTION of resale constitutes "dealing in firearms" which you need the proper licensing to do.

No, not necessarily. Buying a gun with intention of flipping it COULD be illegal depending on many other conditions, but it’s not automatically illegal by itself. See Frank Ettin’s first post (#10) in this thread:

Thanks for this thread. I just scored a 10/22 for $124. But with a little hassle - went to local Walmart in my town. Guy at the counter said he had one in the back, but it was $209. I said can you please scan it? He said no, the price is $209, I just got these prices. He was not interested in helping. So I had to drive to the town 25 miles away and the guy there was great. He did not know about the sale, but scanned it and it came up $124. He knew about the mini 14, because someone came in and bought the five he had.

As of 2:30 pm today (20th) the Plymouth IN store had three Savage Axis. One .243, a .270, and a stainless that couldn’t see the tag. The .243 and .270 had the super price. Dunno about the stainless

They had a 10/22 takedown but it scanned at the normal price

At 18:30 today I walked up to my local Wally World gun counter.....just in time to see the very last of their Mini-14s, infact the display model, being reboxed and the paper work started. Five minutes earlier and it would have been mine!

Oh well I guess I build another AR after all.

It's weird. I don't know how some stores have them marked down and some not. It is regional or by specific store? I live in an area with MANY Walmarts in a 60 mile radius and they all sell guns. However, the Brickseek app only pulled up three stores (out of 15+). I went into one of the stores not on the app and they had a 10/22, but that's the store the guy said it was $209 and would not scan it. Luckily I found one, but had to drive to another town store to get it.

try a zip code for the towns the other Walmarts are in

The 'app' is kinda weird.
If I use my local zip I only get 3 stores locally and there are dozens with 50 miles. If I use a zip for a rural area where my land is, I get a dozen stores with 50 miles, which is probably all of them.
