Due to a shoulder injury limiting my range of motion I've decited to appendix carry my spare magazine. Gun is at 4:00 on the good shoulder side ;)

Why not carry both AWIB? I am using a Vedder LightTuck with claw and it is a work of art. A very few days of getting used to it and it is a great place to carry a gun especially while driving. Don't go cheap on holsters and pay attention to the clip and adjustability.

What ever works for you go for it. Just like shooting. Do whatever technique allows you to hit the target and you are comfortable with.

Cost of holster doesn't mean it will automatically fit you. That's why there's so many have boxes of holsters. But definitely full kydex for me.

I was going to ask you if you consulted your gonads to see if they were alright with it, but I see you chose wisely.

Pricey for the construction but I've found Snagmag in the weak side front pocket far more comfortable when I can't belt carry my spare.

Then again since both my gun and mag are always slightly in front of my hips, I guess I technically AIWB every day.

I agree but I have found the cost usually has a lot to do with the quality of the holster that may or may not fit you. My holster box contains no poorly made holsters as they go directly into the trash very quickly.

I'm doing aggressive PT for the shoulder twice a week and improving. For the time being have the mag at 10:30 to 11:00 deep and tilted back seems to work. If/when I get my range of motion back, I'll probably move it to 8:00.

I am uncomfortable with appendix carry but one of my son's is a federal gov type and carries appendix most of the time. In fact I am considering some type of shoulder carry for when I am in the woods.

I’ll appendox carry my revolvers or occasionally my LC9s with manual safety. No more glock 26 appendix for me, even with the tau development thingy that is supposed to help avoid accidental trigger pull during holstering.

Some day when you are bored. UNLOAD YOUR GUN and draw very slowly from your holster and while doing this track the guns muzzle. I was surprised just how much of my body was covered drawing from the 4:00 position. Oddly, when drawing correctly from AWIB you can be free from any muzzle covering yourself easier than IWB hip carry. Yes both can be done to avoid this issue but try both and discover for yourself or watch Rob Pincus in the video and see it this makes sense for you.

The femoral artery might be a more serious consideration and even more likely result.
Someone ALWAYS brings up the femoral artery. However, I have yet to see a legitimate case of someone who has shot themselves in the femoral artery when carrying a handgun in the appendix position.

Google is your friend... The above is the fruit of thirty seconds of research, I’m sure that in thirty minutes you’ll find a fair number of different cases. Including that of the female officer reholstering at the range, appendix, and who punctured her femoral artery in the process. She owes her life only to the fact that there were highly trained emergency trauma responders with her, and that they had the adequate kit with them.
