47385693-4CD2-4BE5-88A4-168972CAD778.jpeg Ok guys so question “do you hunt with your hand loads?”

My answer is absolutely without a doubt I do why because I think I can do a better job with quality control than a company making million round batches

I seem to get results like this a lot

Absolutely. I can typically take a particular bullet and Taylor it to my gun and make it more accurate.

Yep. Nothing but handloads for all rifle and deer hunting here.

Since I hunt with milsurp rifles, 303 British and 7.5 x 55 Swiss, reloading not only allows me to squeeze the most accuracy from the old rifles, but also practice and plink during the off season without going broke.

Dust, please be carful those old 303s have far to many case head separation issues and people can get hurt.... good luck and have fun

The only factory loads that I have used in the last 45 years were because I had moved and had my loading stuff boxed or I had a box of factory for the brass. When I bought my 243 I purchased a box of Fusions to get me through our first doe season. Took several deer with them and then reloaded the brass when the box was empty.

Oh yeah. Since I started handloading in '09, I have not hunted with factory ammo.
It feels good to kill deer with your own loads.
Now I'm looking forward to my first handgun deer, with loads that I not only loaded, but also cast.

Out of the last forty five years of hunting deer I have killed only one deer with factory ammo and that was with buck shot the rest has been with reloaded pistol or rifle ammunition anywhere from two-five deer a year with reloads. I enjoy trying different types of bullets and rifle rounds if I didn't use my reloads for hunting it would take half the joy out of my hunting. Lol

Most of the time. Last year it was all with factory 6.5 ammo so I could get some brass to reload with after acquiring a new rifle...

I own lots of firearms that have never fired factory ammunition during my ownership. Most of the centerfire calibers I own I don’t even have any factory ammunition for them, just reloads. A few of them one couldn’t even buy loaded ammunition for them. Not that most stores don’t stock it, rather it doesn’t exist.

Yeah, I’ve killed lots of stuff with ammunition I have assembled.
