What are your opinions on this? I run my ARs with the sling attached to the stock but have a few QD endplates I picked up on a deal, Im contemplating switching my rifles up. What are the pros and cons of each choice?

I have 2 slings and many rifles. I always set them up the same way, so QD makes sense for me.

Some rifles (M1 Garand and M1 Carbine) get their own dedicate slings, because... I love them that much.

Example of QD setup on AR's (crappy pic):

M1 Garand Sling (because M1 Pics are cool):

I like to run two point slings (who dosnt) with my front sling attachment connected at the base of my handgaurd. Do you recognize any difference when carrying or transitioning to your sidearm? I could just test it out but I would rather not have to heat up the loctite and remove the buffertube or have to restake my castle nut. BTW, thanks for the reply (ies)

To point sling here, although I'm about to get a convertible Magpul for a pistol build.

I run 2pts on my ARs with the front swivel as close to the receiver as I can get it, and the rear swivel on the stock opposite side (ejection port side). I prefer a 2PT for the control and I've found by going to these attachment points I can quickly loosen my sling (BFG Vickers) to make shoulder transitions when shooting on the left side of cover.

I find two point slings to be the most beneficial. Single points have their uses, but I don't do the things where single point makes sense (real tight spaces).

I usually attach to the back of the butt stock somewhere an then at the first available point just past the lower receiver on the hand guard. I am a smaller dude and having the forward mount closer means less movement while running but is still able to slide around when needed.

You have to find a method that works for you, you just have to.
Lots of pretty knowledgeable guys out there and some of them run it differently based on their experiences, gear load out, or intended purpose.

I am cross dominant (lefty with the rifle) so having the AR in the pictured position is pretty handy.
The matches that I shoot that require slings are usually pretty physically demanding. Climbing, running, etc is common so having hands free is nice.

That setup also makes sure my rifle isn't banging against my pistol.
Transition to pistol is easy and I get to maintain the pistol grip in my left hand while sliding while reaching for the pistol with my right.

QD mounts mean you can move it around until you find what you like, but what I will mention is that 550 cord is easy to move around as well and is cheaper while you are figuring it out.
550 cord works with any rail, QD mount, etc.

^^^ This.

Way simpler than my response and was probably more informative lol

Good advice in this thread  . I have a proctor paracord sling somewhere in my pile of gear im not using lol. I tried running a single point sling in carbine course and theres a reason its called a ---- banger sling, I did not care for it at all.

I meant to use the 550 cord as attachment points for your sling.

You make loops anywhere you want.

Hell, with some duct or electrical tape you can put the loops anywhere, really.
