Have yet to try out an M17 but I do share your appreciation for the P229!

CA is deprived so I can only dream. I also share the appreciation for the 229.

Those have been available for a long time. I've been waiting for one with the safety. This is the 1st photo of one I've seen other than military issue.

It's called a 320. Apart from the thumb safety and color, I dont think the M17 is very different than the standard 320 internally.

I tried one, found it... OK. The grip on stock 320s dont really work for me and the M17 trigger didnt seem nice enough to justify a safety (since it's a 320 after all) BUT I did find the safety in a nice place for my 1911 trained hands and worked very easily.

I'd rather have a VTAC for the beavertail frame, but that's just me.

Interesting. I wonder how much a US military contract is worth to a company in civilian sales?

I really like the looks of those, especially the milled slide for a red dot. A red dot ready 9mm is on my soon to buy list.

I'm betting they make quite a bit on "residuals" like civilian or LEO sales, given how willing they are to sell millions of handguns to the govt pretty much at cost.

Very nice, I am itching really bad for a 228 or 229 in a 9mm.

I got an M17 Commercial shortly after they came out and I definitely like the Glock 19X more. It's definitely nice to have in the collection though.

I find that the M17 has more muzzle flip than the 19X and that the trigger has a much heavier break than the 19X. The ergonomics I find to be lacking for my hands with the M17 as well. If they released a M18 Commercial I would get that because I find that the Carry 320s have no muzzle flip even compared to a Glock but they still have that heavier trigger.

My P229 is becoming one of my favorite pistols. It's a 40 caliber police trade-in that is pretty scuffed up. I think I only gave something like $280 for it. I like it so much that now I'm keeping my eyes open for a 226. I'm glad I finally bought one of their "real" service pistols. My P230 is okay, but now I understand what all of the fuss is about.

Nice. I liked my "trade in" (ok, fine I bought off a relative who retired as an LEO) 229 SRT quite a bit, until my wife stole it has her bedside gun.

So I got a 226 and realized the slightly bigger grip fit me much better. I'm a full blown 226 convert now.

P226 will probably be my next purchase. I've already started watching for them.

I just might whenever the release the SAO version, but I do REALLY like my 226 so I may not need it.
