Dang! Magpul furniture and a side folding stock for 500!? That seems really good. I haven't done any research on these, so folks like them?

I've never had an AK, but that's pretty much exactly how I would want one set up, and $499 for a PSA "Blem" seems like a great deal. Do the PSA AKs have a pretty good reputation? I know for a while there, most US made AKs aside from Arsenal were not rated at highly.
Does anyone know what barrel threads are used on the PSA AKs?

I picked up a Century AK a few years ago that was a complete turd. The front sight was canted so far to one side you couldn’t drift the post far enough to get it sighted in.

I have handled a few PSA AK’s and I think for the money you can’t go wrong. They are marked “blems” but I can’t see any issues. Even if it had a flaw in the finish it wouldn’t matter. It’s an AK. The Magpul furniture is really nice also.

I think PSA blem program is just so they can preserve their normal price for future market adjustments. It allows them to sell at a really low price and if there is a run on guns they will magically run out of blem inventory and sell at normal or just plain sale prices. It’s a marketing and sales tool. That’s always how I thought of it because I can never find much of any blem on their blem items

If my thought is correct it’s a good idea for them.

Looks good to me. Interesting that they list the BC as forged and the bolt and trunion as "billet." Of course, billets can be rolled, forged, or (hack, cough) cast......

These, are, of course, the most important and stressed parts of the AK and where the Century-built guns fail miserably.

Still, PSA has been doing a pretty good job on their AR's, so maybe, just maybe, we finally have a decent US-made AK.

Any chance we can get some pics of the internals?

Overall, looks good. The BCG sure looks better than that hideous "skeletonized" thing Century uses. Not a big fan of cast hammers or single hook triggers, but if the heat treating is good they should be alright.

The trunion appears to have very soft edges to it, not what you normally see with parts machines from billet, but then Ive seen CNC'd parts with very tight lines and whatever finish coating they applied could be softening the edges as well.

Keep an eye on the locking lugs and shoulders and let us know how she runs, good luck!

Depending on what furniture you have on your PSAK, a cleaning rod may or may not go in all the way. My PSAK 47 came with basic polymer furniture. The hole for the cleaning rod in the lower hand guard was such that the back end of the cleaning rod got hung up on the interior end of the rivet securing the feed ramp portion of the front trunion so that it would be about 3/4" shy of how far it needed to be in to fit into the slot in the bottom of the front sight block.

I wound up making a little "ramp" of JB Weld to direct the interior part of the rod up and over that rivet which seems to be working fine.

I ordered and have been using my PSAK-47 for at least a year. My son has the same and are finished in the Red Wood. We have been pleasantly surprised. They were the same price and though we already have some Russian AK's from years ago we wanted to try these out. So far, no surprises, though they are just not quite the same. I surmise with typical light duty, they should be fine. I am no AK aficionado.
