FBI NICS Now Records Your Drivers License #

I'm not worried about them recording it, but calling customers in and having to recite their I.D. numbers now is very annoying. So is the new NICS opening robo message that takes forever to listen through, asking if the address on the I.D. matches the address written on the 4473. I just wonder why they've changed it?

I’m sure any gov.person who wants it can get my DL. Heck it was the IRS who was hacked and gave my SS# out to what now amounts to several identity thieves. But they wont get it from NICS...in KS you just show your CCW and it stays in the dealers files.

You neglected to say that after the OPM data breach, the Feds AND the Chinese have that information.

I am shocked

Ppl posting are so worried about the Feds having the DL that ...they already have, yet no comment on the lowly store employee(s) peering at the same info?

I don't like the Feds having the info, but that pales in comparison to the $11 / hr. store employee IMHO...

Since the Chinese have my SSN, I would not care if the FBI gets my Driver's license number. But since the Chinese hacked the OPM records three or four years ago, the US Government has given me "lifetime" credit monitoring for free.

That's why I only use one dealer who I know well. He has no employees and belongs to the same private range that I do. I have enough problems with compromised credit card info, I don't need to add to the number of people who have my personal information.:(

Some people just need to invest in tinfoil hats.
The $11 an hour store employee could care less about your DL and SSN numbers. If you pay with a debit or credit card, he has everything he needs to spend your money.
Fear not the gun store employees, the ones at the fast food restaurants have been stealing card info for years.

So we give them all our personal statistics, even the county where we were born, on the
4473. Are they
unable to get our Driver's License with a click of the keyboard? Now they have our Driver's
License, which basically is all the same stats again, and our D/L #.

Oh, ooga-booga! What are we going to do? Or how about what are they going to do ?
This is just more useless collected information that's all going to sit around turning into a
bigger pile of useless information.

I'd be more worried that they piss all of this money away, collecting useless information,
in these futile information banks. While the children go unfed, and the babies go unvaccinated,
bridges unrepaired, etc.

The only place that has your 4473 on file is the point of sale, the store. The only info transmitted to the Feds is name, state of birth/residence, ethnicity, citizenship status and general type of firearm. Now they record the type of I.D. and I.D. number. I'd be interested to know what prompted this recent change in protocol.

I went to the DMV yesterday and got the Gold Star added to my Drivers License so I can fly on commercial airline. I had to show my birth certificate, Social Security card and my registration for my truck for proof of identity. The Clerk scanned all of my documents so the information is now with the Feds.

To keep this gun related the USPS claims it photographs every piece of mail they process which means they have photos of your gun magazines, sale flyers from places like Cabelas and any gun items like parts that have been mailed to you. The data base for storing all of this must be massive but it shows how difficult it is to truly hide from the Government that you are a gun owner.

None of this information has anything to do with preventing crime or keeping us safe. It is used after a incident occurs to help catch whoever they believe committed the crime.

The potential for misuse of this information is tremendous. It is easy to see how it will be used against gun owners after the Democrats regain power in Washington. Gun owners are going to pay a very deep price for supporting President Trump.

I predict that newborn babies will soon be required to be microchipped. Microchipping is a proven technology used in animals so there will be no health risk. Think about how it will work when you want to buy a gun. The clerk scans the microchip in your body, links it to the Government computer and, presto, you are in the Government database with approval or disapproval in just a few seconds.

The brave new world is very frightening.
Dont kid yourself, millions of proles will line up for free implants as soon as the banks and retailers link them to your accounts. Think of how convenient it will be to shop now! No checkout lines, no pesky credit cards!
Walk in, it records your presence. As you leave, it scans your cart and debits your account.

Employers and schools will require them for attendance, "safety checks" and access to secure areas.

Want to vote? Just wave your wrist over the screen, sir.

Every state does this differently and even some stores do. For instance, I worked in the sporting goods department of my local Walmart a decade or so ago. They not only required that we get the DL# of the purchaser, but also required that we make a photo copy of the buyer's DL to keep on file. This was a store thing rather than state (not sure if corporate or store specific) and they did away with it a few months before I quit working there. They also would not allow us to sell to someone whose picture was not on their DL or ID. Anyone old enough for a picture to no longer be required was just out of luck.

The place that I worked after Walmart was much worse for potential for stolen personal information. The company was a call center for hunting/fishing license sales and store hunting/fishing license sales equipment troubleshooting and we covered around half of the lower 48. Part of the "customer service" training was make sure you don't have to ask a customer to repeat themself. Specifically, they told us to write down all of the customer's identifying information that they give you. This amounted to sheet upon sheet of paper with SSN's, names, I even know of a few people that wrote down credit card numbers. These papers were not shredded or anything, they were just tossed in the trash. Just out of interest I looked at the location of everyone that has posted a message so far on this page. The people from Washington and Texas are safe, the rest of you if you have ever called to buy a hunting or fishing license or called to check in an animal you likely called the company I previously worked for and the information you gave is on a sheet of paper somewhere in a landfill in middle Tennessee. The employees also are not vetted at all and multiple people got fired for drug possession while I worked there. The plant that I worked at was in a small town where meth has run rampant for a decade.

Now I didn't post this to scare people but more to show that everyone's information is out there. One of the things I always laughed at when I worked at the call center was the people that didn't want to give me their SSN even though all I needed was their name and sometimes DOB depending upon rarity of name and I could look up their SSN, address, DL#, date of every license purchase, and every address change since they started buying hunting/fishing licenses. Essentially, I'm just saying that our information is already out there. Heck, here in Tennessee a highly liberal newspaper posted the names and addresses of every CCW license holder in the state on their website and were legal to do so because it is information that can be looked up in a state database.

Here in Missouri the Feds or the State Police used to just be able to ask the State about ALL your information and they would just hand it over with no questions asked about who or why they wanted it. A few years back the State gave the feds a full data download on EVERYBODY in their system who had a carry permit. People here finally figured that out and were outraged and put a stop to it. A few years later they did away with carry permits altogether in Missouri. Back around 5 years ago I lived in Indiana and the newspaper in Bloomington published a list of every person in town who had a State license to carry a firearm including their address and a map of the whole town showing where they all lived. They caught hell for that one.

Check out a newer Social Security card. They have removed the "Not to be used for identification purposes". Neither of my kids have this.
That saying went away decades ago; my original has that saying; but my kids (in their 30s) do not it on theirs. Then again, I didn't get mine until my first job when I was 15; now they get issued at birth

They only take images of SOME of the letter size mail. You can actually go to the USPS website and see what they take images of.

From the USPS website on Informed Delivery * Images are only provided for letter-sized mailpieces that are processed through USPS' automated equipment

As I recall the images are only kept for 7 or 10 days unless you're under investigation by the Postal Inspectors or there's a warrant.

Agree.

Things like magazines and sale flyers do not get scanned. Just letter sized mail.

I just signed up for this yesterday because we've been having problems with our mail carrier. Days and days without mail, not even junk mail and then suddenly the mailbox is stuffed full.

I’m not worried about my DL info, it’s all the cell phone conversations and text messages that are intercepted and stored at
Ft. Huachuca and a place in Virginia called Radio city.
Let me adjust the tinfoil real quick!

Don't forget about the NSA facility in UT; they probably know more about then you do; including every gun you have ever owned.

I've said that from day one. He isn't as pro RKBA as many people think he is. As soon as congress flips he'll flip with them.
Really? And what was the alternative? Trump has put two superb pro- 2nd Amendment judges on the court. And there will be more.....
