I took The Lady to Gunshow yesterday with the intent of finding a smaller pistol for her to start carrying. She has a S&W M&P but with 17 rounds it is too large and heavy for her to carry. Well a Ruger SR-22 caught her eye and all though the show she would handle one and comment how comfortable it is.

So this morning in cold windy rain we went back to the Gunshow and she is now the owner of a Ruger SR-22 in Cerakoat Elite Jungle Green. It Is a interesting miss match of green colors but a nice change from another black gun.

I heading downstairs later today to see what ammunition I have on hand.

I want to thank those of you who recommended Target Sports. I had never heard of them. When I viewed their site, I was amazed how good the prices are for certain kinds of ammo. thanks again!!

As far as supplies I keep both reloading stuff (primers and propellant) and rimfire ammo enough that I can go at least one presidential election plus one year put away. So 5 years of normal shooting stocked ahead supplies. And with that in mind I try to replace what I use ASAP as long as prices are not crazy and take advantage of any sales that happen when I have extra cash to burn.

Target Sports is great, but another one I have had great service form is Outdoor Limited. When it seemed like everyone else had run the 9MM 124 Gr HST up to $30 or didn't have any, they still had it in stock for $20. Good communication with a shipping link and fast delivery. Showing out of stock now though. (No, I only bought four boxes, it wasn't me. :D)

As Frogo stated, 5 years.
I just look at the Obanic from 2012 to 2017 as an example.
It was like 4 full years of hard-to-find ammo and components and .22s went even longer.
We just never know when demand will ship recklessly.
It can (and has) happened over night.

Don't forget SGAmmo.com either. Family owned and operated, IIRC Sam is a veteran as well, their prices are within pennies of being just as good as other places after you include shipping, and he occasionally has some "interesting" stuff come in. Not that I have anything against Target Sports, but I try and give SGAmmo my business as much as I can.

Just my opinion.

I can still say that after more than 5 years, more than 6600 rounds, my SR-22 is still one of my most fun guns to shoot. EVERYONE who shoots it just loves it. It's easy to shoot, pretty darn accurate, and so unassuming that it puts even the most scared newbie I've taken shooting at ease. Even the kids love it! :D

I too have to thank whoever brought up Targetsports and the .22 ammo prices. Took only a week and a half to get my case of Aguila.

I've ordered from both Target Sports & SGAmmo. Bookmarked both of them and I check on 'em frequently. They're both great to deal with, but . . . . I like the fact that I can call Target Sports. SGAmmo works by email only. I also like the fact that SGAmmo will ship their ammo with a "hold for pickup" option. When I ordered from Target Sports, the only option was for them to leave the ammo on my front porch. I live on a main road, and I don't particularly care for the idea of some local thug stealing a case of ammo off my porch. Mind you, that doesn't mean I won't order from TS. I'll just have to arrange it so that I can be home when the ammo arrives.

I'm glad that this topic has helped some of y'all to find some great deals on ammo. Target Sport USA is my number one place to shop for ammo, SG Ammo being my second. SG ammo does have faster shipping and does get in some cool stuff at times. United Nations Ammo is another place to look.

Dalai Gunny,

For some reason I have never had much interest in .22 rimfire. All I have are a couple of 22 rifles and my son's Browning Buckmark.

The Lady changed that this weekend with her buying the Ruger SR22. It is a very comfortable little pistol and I foresee it getting shot by both of us every time we go to the range. The Lady is asking about using it for conceal carry <sigh> She even brought a purse at the gun show that has a pocket for handgun and tried her gun in it when we got home. Well if this is the gun that gets her to start carrying then that is a victory. Rough inventory yesterday is somewhere around 5,000 rounds. (Shelf count. I did not start opening ammo cans). I am going to be buying and trying the nastier stuff to find a good self-defense one. At least for the 22.

I did a search of old threads about the SR22 and the general comments are the SR22 is not ammo sensitive. Hopefully this one will not be which will help greatly with buying ammunition for it.

Bsa1 I’ve had my SR 22 for four years now. I’ve put a few thousand rounds through it. It eats whatever I feed it. I haven’t tried one yet that it did not like.
I think you and theLady wool seriously enjoy it

Yesterday Bi-Mart had all the .22 ammo you could ask for priced at 4.2 cents a round. Several different manufactures.

Palmetto State armory has .22 with free shipping on select mfg's over 5 boxes. I got Federal Automatch for $11.99/box of 325 and free shipping, so had to order 10 boxes....I HAD to.......like 3.7 cents per round had to.....

So... As we talk about "stocking up"... how much is "enough"? Different answer for each of us based on our shooting habits of course, but I can't that I will ever be satisfied that I have enough just in case.

So what do you think? Two years worth? Four years worth? More???

When I go to our gun club by myself, I'll easily shoot 500 or more rounds in a few hours. I often go with a few friends or both of my sons, and now my oldest son's fiancee. With 4 or more of us shooting 1000 to 2000 rounds in an afternoon is not unheard of. I'm up to about 20,000 rounds of 22, which sounds like a lot but is probably less than 2 year's worth. I have another 1500 rounds on their way, and at these prices I'm going to make a few more purchases.

Ditto a big one on Outdoor Limited Especially since they are a neighbor to Va. and I received my order so darn quickly. The do not waste time. Great Prices to boot.My first order, I did pay a small fee for expedited delivery, thinking they would take so much time like so many others. Heck, the package arrived the Next day.

Just purchased 5,000 rounds of CCI mini mags 36 gr hp for $250 shipped from palmetto state. Hard to beat $.05/round minimags

Problem with me is I reside in Peoples Republic of Mass. Target sports is the only dealer I’ve found who will ship here. Our AG is not even 2A neutral , let alone 2A friendly. So once again the legal good guys catch it in the neck for the non law abiding segment of the population.

I keep about 5000 rounds on hand and thought that was a lot. I guess I have to get more.

Palmetto just came out with bricks of CCI Blazer for 16.99 each. Free delivery when you buy 5 or mored .0389/round

Bi-Mart has 1600 rounds of .22 for $49.97.
Federal Black Pack 36 gr.
.031 per round.
They had a lot of it.
I'm going to add a few cases to my ammo locker today.
